Topic: I can't stop putting butter on food, fora.

Metæ started this discussion 10 years ago #51,504

It started with that time I tried putting butter on steak and now literally everything I eat has butter on it. Vegetables? Sauteed in butter. Steak? buttered. Eggs and bacon? Eggs fried in butter. Doughnuts? Buttered. I have consumed over a pound of butter in the past week alone.

have you tried not putting butter on your food?

@OP
Maybe if you just eat a raw stick of butter you wouldn't feel like you need butter on it?

@OP
Everything should be wrapped in bacon and dipped in butter, including bacon and butter themselves.

@previous (D)
Really, we should just be eating bacon wrapped butter dipped in butter with bacon wrapped around it.

That sounds like one of those super foods you hear about.

You used a whole pound - 4 sticks of butter - in a week?!

Metæ (OP) replied with this 10 years ago, 1 minute later, 1 hour after the original post[^] [v] #667,656

@667,643 (squeegee)
Yes and it's about as exciting as not drinking Franzia. Hey why not eat steamed broccoli and tap water for dinner? Because it's fucking dreadful. Especially when you could have a 12oz strip steak (buttered) with half a bottle of Christian Brothers brandy.

@667,645 (C)
Buttered butter?! You mean... metabutter? Is it physically possible?

@667,648 (D)
The closest I've come is ham fried in butter.

Yes, several tablespoons a day.

@667,658 (Lt. Judy Hopps)
I actually have pretty decent health. I haven't seen a doctor in six years (and only then because I needed codeine cough syrup for really bad bronchitis - an ailment which could befall anyone).

@previous (Lt. Judy Hopps)
If you want to say butter is bad for you then fine, but how are the hydrogenated oils they put in margarine any better?

It sounds like it is your relationship with the idea of butter rather than the actual butter itself.
This kind of thing can happen to the shared conciousness as well as individuals such as was seen with the goose fat movement as started by nigella lawson.
It is often predicted that peanut oil will be the next fad and several peanut oil tycoons are emerging in an attempt to stay ahead of the curve.

@previous (H)
No, it is the taste of butter or more specifically how it makes other foods taste (like how MSG makes food taste good but no one likes MSG on its own).

I don't like food fads and I spent most of the last several years cringing as baconmania came and people got retarded with bacon flavored soda and toothpaste and chewing gum and god knows what else because I had enjoyed bacon on daily basis for many years before the fad.

@667,679 (Adam Djensen)
But it will only be half as good.

You eat a pound of butter a week and haven't had a checkup in six years and from that you conclude you're in good health? What??? Do we live on the same planet?

I have some difficulty controlling my eating and drinking but I feel fine most of the time and live a normal lifestyle. I am perfectly able bodied and in fact stronger than most people I know.

@previous (lost soul)
Why would you visit the doctor if you weren't sick? When was the last time you took your car to the mechanic when it was running just fine?

Use your butter to butter bibles to the ceiling, then you will have no butter left to butter your food.

You have an incredibly unhealthy diet and are at an unhealthy weight.

You drink compulsively.

Are you waiting for your lifestyle to disable you before you consider yourself unhealthy?

I've been debilitated by a spinal injury for several months. The people I spend my days with in PT and waiting rooms fall into 3 basic categories: the elderly, those with chronic illnesses, and people with terrible lifestyles.

It's fucking miserable to watch people your age who could be healthy struggle to complete basic tasks. If you aren't willing to go to the doctor and confront the consequences of, for example, eating a pound of fat a week, then you are going to suffer more than you can imagine.

TL;dr ily meta please go to the doctor and ask for help adjusting your lifestyle
