Put the coffee cup back on top of your phone. Java isn't supported by Android or iOS so you've got to use a PC for that.

Java runs in two ways, either on your system using a Java Virtual Machine, or in the browser using some kind of sandbox. The browser stuff is all but dead, but it is helpful to state which of these two you mean.
I've not heard of Java running on a phone either in a JVM or on a browser, so fake_anon sounds correct.
tteh is confused as to why you want to run it; I assume some kind of web page is telling you to install it? You probably want to ignore that.

Okay thanks, I just get a message on some sites that things won't work/display because no java. I didn't used to get that. I will take note of when I get that message. Also the little chat app on this website no longer works so I guess I need to reinstall AndChat.

Really? Dumb phones back in the day used Java ME for apps and Android and its apps are written almost entirely in Java.

The similarities are the shared syntax and the core libraries. Is the byte code different also? I don't know. Other than that they are different platforms in every way.

Late to the party, but it's Android, so you already have it. (Nearly) all android apps are written in Java, and ran on the Dalvik Virtual Machine. In the browser on your phone? You don't. You just don't.
