Direware and Grimso Norseman knives on the secondary market. They can easily double or quadruple in price due to their scarcity and high demand. $500 is an expensive knife, but $1-2k? I'm out. I've decided I won't buy any more knives that are too 'pretty' or pricey to use and abuse. So I'm getting rid of a few of my safe queens to make room for knives and guns I'll actually use.
At the same time dropping up to $1k on a handgun doesn't seem too crazy, but $3-5k because it's ultra tacticool or has some nice filigree? Nah.

most of my guns are just for fun. got a couple of plinkers and am thinking about buying an mp5 offa dude cause it's one of the most fun guns i've ever fired.
my .40 p99 is for home defense. i'm sure i'll buy others, i want a revolver and probably i'll end up with a few more.

you should install a little opening off to the side of the front door that allows you to shoot the people at the front door when they are trying to do home invasion
way easier than waiting for them to pile inside

that would be illegal and i'd be jailed for using it. i could shoot them through the door and that would be permissible in texas under the stand your ground and king of the castle laws. still that's not really recommended. once they enter your home, though, it's a shooting gallery.
i'm not really worried about home invasion anyway, i've got a very loud and aggressive sounding dog that alerts on everything (he's a hunter afterall). a gun is a last resort anyway. i don't expect to use them for anything for than target shooting and varmint hunting. if you've never hunted varmint with an smg you haven't really lived.

that's a weird law. you are far more likely to successfully eliminate the targets when they are in the process of trying to break in and you have some measure of being hidden. If they are trying to break in and you aren't allowed to shoot them, you should run the fuck out the back door and not even chance face-to-face combat.
Otherwise, I'd recommend installing a concrete-composite-kevlar-laminate berm a certain distance from the entrance inside that you can remain behind and shoot through as they enter.

the king of the castle law just extends your right to shooting people to outside your house, so i can literally kill someone for breaking into my car, where previously not engaging them and calling the police would pass the reasonable man test. and stand your ground basically means that if you feel your life is endanger you can immediately use force to defend yourself rather than try other measures, like running.
really what the laws do is limit what can legally be called a crime when it comes to self defense. the laws don't grant me privileges (like shooting through doors) but instead limit what they can call a crime (like blindly shooting through doors) when you feel threatened on your private property.
but setting up shootin' holes might be considered equivalent to building traps (like rigging doors with shotgun booby traps) which isn't protected by any kind of law. that's just a crime. so, best to not do silly things like that.

that's weird law - - I can see some yahoo sitting in the house waiting for the fuckers when he would be better off getting the hell away but he has in mind that the law will protect him plausibly. And we already have lawful protection against being charged of murder, with reasonable self-defence conerns regardless of the situation or location -- this stand-your-ground thing seems needless if you can't even shoot them before they get immediately dangerous. To protect the homeowner, the law should allow you to hide and kill the would-be intruders before there is any danger to the homeower, or nevermind this stand-your-ground thing altogether and rely on standard self-defence allowance.
Anyway, you don't want a door that you easily could shoot through. If your area has the risk of murderous intruders, then your door should be so secure that you'd need very high caliber rounds to get through in the first place.

I've been thinking about going for a PPQ or a P99 for my EDC, I'm still carrying a Sig P229 (also in .40S&W) or a G26 most days, but the ergos on the P99/PPQ just feel right. I did pick up one of the SW99 variants, but it's not the same. :|
Is it an H&K MP5 or one of the GSG .22lr clones? Either way, they're a blast to shoot.
