Topic: Is it too late for me to learn how to type properly?

I'm pretty quick with two fingers, but this is improper technique, so is it still possible to learn how to type the correct way or is it too late for me?

The best way is to attach sensors to each of your fingers and each of your keys which give off a small electric shock when the wrong finger is used on the wrong key.
Also, have you found the little ridges on the f & j keys? Are you using your little finger on the q & p keys? Do this and pin up a diagram on your monitor then perhaps everything will fall into place.

It's completely unimportant and unnecessary at this point. 15 years ago when computers where just starting to be widespread, it was important to teach people how to type quickly because it was a skill they hadn't developed before. Now kids get years of experience before they ever need to use a computer for anything important, so it's not a big deal what finger they use for each key as long as they are utilizing more than just 1 or both index fingers.

I don't have a clue if a few years past teen makes a difference. I have great memories of my one class back as kiddlet. Turns out to be one of the most useful things I did as a fill in class.Learned one of the most important life lessons EVER - Cause it was the one and only time I cheated in any class. Only because I ended up in a contest with my best friend in that class as to who wood get the fastest speed. We both cheated by starting the test a few seconds early. We both got caught at the same time. Hands just slapped no big deal.
Big deal cause I discovered I could type even faster with less errors then when I was cheating - Terrific life lesson.
Also that fill in class because the rest of my class load was mean as fuck and I needed something simple for a break. Super useful all my working life.

Typing became more comfortable for me when I realised I wasn't using my little finger for 'p'.
I chose to learn to type correctly because I was worried about one day getting RSI.

I doubt a random use of fingers is efficient compared to learning to do it efficiently. In a tek environment surrounded by so many work mates that only learned with two finger hunt and peck I was always asked to sit at a keyboard to quickly input important instructions during a stressful situation.
Been years since I last took a test - about 8-10 and I did 85WPM with a few errors 3-4 or so. I bet hunt n peck gets wot 40 wpm?
