Topic: I want to leave a tip for an European waiter or waitress.

Just to see how they respond to it.

Will they be offended that badly or just assume I am American?

In France I always do without even a comment. They take the money and run.

We do tip in Europe, although probably not usually. The chance of a tip relates to the size of the group. Good service does get tipped but money is boring and is becoming less relevant.

But money makes the world go around? If money is relevant then how do the people of Europe live day to day?

Europeans tip wait staff. It's just less frequent, and rarely ever 15 or 20 percent.

Pleb.

Slowly slowly less relevant, and no quicker. It'll take more time but we're getting there.

They will react by taking the money and saying thanks.

When I tried to tip on a visit to the UK, the waitress there was a little caught off guard and told me to keep it and that she would rather that I tell my friends about the place. Joke's on her because I don't have any!

You could prove that by going to the restaurant and telling the staff that he sent you.
