These responses feel formulaic, and they don't address the issue at hand. I'd like some convincing evidence.

@previous (A) > I'd like some convincing evidence.
I can only assume that in the past week or so your hand held a pool of Y chromosomes in a slurry full of 180 million sperm.
It is your history of destroying multiple amounts of 180 million sperm. Don't get me started on how many X chromosome you disposed of.
Unless you are a bot? Your parents history is one of your daddy on purpose or by accident, dumping multiple loads of 180 million sperm into your mudder.

It does feel weird, especially with things that have no survivors or left no tangible evidence. I "know" Gavrilo Princip assassinated Franz Ferdinand on June 28, 1914 but it's not real to me. It might as well have been Rainbow Dash assassinating Big Bird in Narnia. It's just a name and a number.
Henry Ford said:
I don’t know whether Napoleon did or did not try to get across there and I don’t care. I don’t know much about history, and I wouldn’t give a nickel for all the history in the world. It means nothing to me. History is more or less bunk. It's tradition. We don't want tradition. We want to live in the present and the only history that is worth a tinker's dam is the history we make today.
And I can see where he's coming from.

That actually happened. The Voyage of the Sesame Fluttershy Treader is going to be our new scripture. We'll start a cult that will raise us money. If we're lucky, then we can get Becky to join, and she will show up and have our babies.

It better have some awesome miracles in it. Not water into wine but, like, water into brandy.
They say we need to learn history because those who don't are doomed to repeat it, but I'm absolutely sure they had lots of history in 1914 but they ended up repeating it when Rainbow Dash busted a cap in Big Bird's ass (what WAS Fluttershy doing on the grassy knoll?!).
To what extent does knowing how we got here help? Does it matter that I know the earth is an agglomeration of detritus left over from a previous supernova that took billions of years to coalesce, or am I just as well off thinking baby Jebus created earth in six days? I only have seven or eight decades at any rate.

Big Bird hadn't learned any history by that point because that episode was scheduled for next season. Political assassination usually isn't dealt with on Seasame Street, and I'm pretty sure Gavrilo Princip hadn't seen that episode. I'm pretty sure it was Lister, Rimmer, Kryten, Cat, and Kennedy from the book depository window though.

Man, sometimes I wish I had that many. Some days I'm so sick of it I don't even want another day.

Maybe kids would be smarter if Sesame Street would just teach the controversy of the single bullet theory? It's a known fact children before the Kennedy assassination were more smarter and this is why.

Have you tried Tesco Value™ cider? It's clinically proven to treat mild to moderate existential crises.

Kids would definitely be smarter if they believed a bullet could loop around and make multiple impact wounds.

Godammit! I've been using Camus essays up until now! I'll try that.

There's no such thing as Tesco Value Cider anymore. Tesco discontinued it years ago.

It's true. I wish I could score some TVC but all I can get is Sainsbury's Basics Cider.

Have you tried some Myth of Sisyphus? Shit's amazing. It's like you feel your life is pointless, and you can't do anything about it.

Henry Ford didn't claim ignorance of history when he was using it to justify his being a raging anti Semite.

As a child, I once shot a lead pellet through an aluminum can, which then went through a cardboard box, hit the side of the garage, then ricocheted back and hit me in the chest. It did not have enough energy left to cause injury but the impact did sting a bit.
@664,979 (H) In 1921, Ford cited evidence of a Jewish threat: "The only statement I care to make about the Protocols is that they fit in with what is going on. They are 16 years old, and they have fitted the world situation up to this time." Ford was definitely an antisemite but it doesn't appear that he cared about the historical aspect.
