He can believe sincerely in everything he's said and still prefer to support the Republican nominee who received large majority of delegates.
He's not endorsing Trump. He's just not encouraging his party to revolt against its own base.

Only 29 percent view him favorably, compared to 68 percent who have an unfavorable opinion of him.
Compare that to 2012, when Mitt Romney carried white women by a 14-point margin, 56 percent to 42 percent – and still lost by four points overall.

Its coming down to simple math anyone can do.
Women cannot tolerate him and one look at the Gender Gap and how women in almost all cases over the years vote by millions more than men - That other guy in Ohio is still beating Hillary by a bunch in the polls. Kasich is +4 to +11% whipping Hillary's ass.
Hillary of course is not do so much so well in popularity by men and women. Its just a case of One vs the other as to who is more unpopular - I have made a lot of cash so far because I bet just 9 days ago, on their being a contested convention when Betfair predicted less than a 50-50% chance of a contested convention - Its Now 79% for a contested convention.

But who else besides pissed off white guys will ever vote Republican? If milquetoast moderates like Jeb! and Rubio can't even win in their own party's election what hope do they have in the general?
