One year ago today, 5:40pm central time, I was involved in the most devestating truck crash I ever been in. It's actually my only crash I've ever been in. Memories are flooding back, and the flashbacks suck. And I continue to think about the woman who was killed. Sigh........

Yo Trucker sorry for your pain. What did the State Troopers conclude?

@664,495 (chili dog !!81dzJNNYL)

Thanks

From what I've gathered, and I'm not sure what happened, the truck that caused the crash never touched his brakes. Traffic was stopped and he rear ended every one still going about 65mph. He hit a car first, then slammed into me, shoving me into the back of another truck. His truck burned, and half of my flatbed trailer.

Was he drunk/on drugs? Did he fall asleep? Was it a suicide attempt? Did the breaks fail?

Well, on the bright side, your truck and the guy's in front of you absorbed most of his speed, preventing what could have been an even larger loss of life.

No, he wasn't drunk or anything. When we got out of the trucks, I asked him if he was ok, he said, "I don't know what happened, I must of been in a daze or something." I figured he could have been dozing off, or on his cell phone.

Yes, I've thought the same thing, and I am glad there was no car in front of me. So I am also partially glad my truck was able to prevent further tragedy.
