I've been in the habit of showering every other day when I don't working, but twice daily when I do work. On those days my roommate gets mad at me and says I'm wasting water. I don't get women.

Also, it's a matter of preference really.
If you don't shower every day, your skin stops producing as much oil and you can stay clean without showering.

Well, I shower every other day. My lifestyle doesn't really make me sweaty and long hair is hard to maintain.

It's not necessary, you won't die lol. In Kalimantan it was customary to shower many times a day (before meals and before bed) but they were only quick, 5 minute, cold showers, whereas in the West people take hour-long hot showers. I prefer taking several, short showers a day.

You should turn the water off and on, only when you need to rinse. You don't have to leave the water running in the entire time. Maybe that could pacify her issue with your 'wasting water'?

Plus it was really rather humid over there and we were doing a lot of hard work, but also playing a lot of sport and games with the kids. The water was from the river though and not good for washing wounds as I found out when my foot swelled up and I couldn't get my boot back on. I still have the scars lol.

FYI

I shower at least once every day, twice if I work out or if I'm working/do any sort of physical labour, which at the moment is most days (landscaping or decorating).
