I only buy rice, lentils, spinach, and occasionally fruits or fruit snacks along with Juicy Juice from Krogers. To answer your question, I spend less than 115 USD a month on food.

You need to spend two and a half to three times that to cook properly, and that would be with more basic recipes with limited amounts of meat or fresh produce.
