But due to the Angry Anæ he had to do it under a pseudonym. I was in Barnes and Noble and I picked up a book on food and I was reading it and it was full of Matt schtick and I was like "oh shit" and I looked at the cover and it had the Miller Guide logo but obviously the name was different. I forgot what his nom de plume was in the dream, though.
Also I should add it was a New York Times best seller and it was a cookbook which is kinda ironic because Matt is notorious for never actually giving people recipes.
Honest question: Do you remember actually reading and comprehending words or did you just "get the sense that had read" those words? It's weird distinction. It's kind of like when you see a stop sign on the street; you probably don't actually read the word "STOP" but just mentally fill in what you expect to be there.
I was having a discussion with a friend about how reading in dreams works in the brain. I was just curious if you felt like you were "actually" spending time reading text or just sort of had the idea that you had read it. I know I have had dreams where I glanced at a book or a note and instantly learned more than I could have known from a casual glance. I have also had dreams where I feel I am actually reading and trying to make out text.
Just curious what you think when you think about it.

Just a guess. Dreams can be connected to what you had for dinner that night.
Guessing you ate at a place like this.

I want to start cooking. I kind of want to make homemade chicken noodle soup.

Depends, on how much you're actually cooking. The chicken doesn't necessarily have to be precooked, you can cook it before you add vegetables. The noodles should be cooked seperately, though. No, I've never really used a recipe for any soup, except Panang Curry.
Anonymous G replied with this 10 years ago, 1 minute later, 1 hour after the original post[^][v]#660,775
Hell NO! Just buy a live chicken. Do not bother to pluck it because the feathers will come off in the hot stock. Throw in some carrots and slow cook for a few hours (yes do gut that chicken first)
Add noodles just before serving - otherwise they get mushy

You should! Also look up a recipe because you can do things like make stock from chicken bones and shit. A lot of people buy a rotisserie chicken from Walmart to make things easier.

Precooked chicken will work or any parts of chicken will work. Best done from scratch. Otherwise just buy a can pre made.
Best if one just buys a whole fresh chicken. Cut it up a bit. Add celery and carrots and one whole onion cut up.
Cook for a few hours. Add salt and pepper to taste. Noodles at very end so they do not get mushy.
Chinese method is the very best. Chinese never cook anything in water - Always broth. Wedding present to bride is a stock pot filled with chicken broth. From then on the broth is refreshed each time a new chicken is added.
The French way is also very good. Bones are pulled from the fresh chicken and roasted brown in the oven. Chinese also do this in a wok. Adds a caramelized element to the mix.

It was the "get the sense" type of reading. I've had dreams where I read text but never remember it in the morning. And sometimes I'll read text and then read it again and it changes and then I realize it's a dream and wake up.

No Ten Myle sewer oil last night. I had: a hamburger, fresh strawberries, pepsi and half a bottle of brandy.

I've had that happen too. Thank you for sharing your experiences and making another data point on my list of people I have asked about this. If you have any other input on the experience of reading in dreams please don't hesitate to tell me.

I know the feeling except I see text printed on my eyeballs as floaters whenever I wake up. Sometimes it's blurred and other times crystal clear. I don't know what it says because I was always too afraid to read it. This leads me to blink and close my eyes for a long period of time to where upon opening them the text constantly changes. Does this mean I am crazy?

I'm probably just going to go with the precooked chicken cuts right now, but I already saved a couple of recipes using full chicken.

If you are really going to use precooked chicken - Why not just add it to a can of chicken soup. You need broth anyway.
That said. A can of broth and cooked chicken parts is a fast way to go - and adding fresh veggies is better than the stuff that comes in a can.
THAT SAID: You will be paying someone else to cook that cooked chicken. Far more value if you buy fresh chicken and do it from scratch - The only thing you lose is time.
I suspect you have a lot of time on your hands so why pay someone else when you can save money and the juices that come out of a fresh chicken or parts will add something that cooked chicken can never add.

Both true. Cream of chicken soup can give your broth a creamier texture, but you get a better flavor from scratch.

If I have tasted cream of chicken soup it was in childhood -
Just looked up with one click what this is > Whisk the heavy cream,
OK I can see where that wood be different. There are several ways to get a creamy texture that is more healthy
Beauford Giddry !V8uI1sP7dw replied with this 10 years ago, 11 minutes later, 2 hours after the original post[^][v]#660,815
I'm sure that's true. Most soups I make have a creamy texture in the first Place, that comes from either evaporated milk or coconut milk.

I've heard that lucid dreamers can use written words (or clocks) to initiate a lucid dream. They double-check or closely inspect the words, and if it's a dream, the words will change or not quite make sense.

From personal research, it is u likely to make out such details in a dream. I actually use this technique to check if I'm dreaming. You shouldn't be able to see your fingerprints in your dreams, nor would you be able to distinguish yourself clearly in a mirror. Very interesting stuff really.

Why wouldn't you be able to see your fingerprints? Just because you don't memorize them and know what yours specifically look like means your brain won't fake it anyway?

@660,816 (RWBY Rhubarb? !!iNo3FkiZx) > if it's a dream, the words will change
I've had this experience on a number of occasions.
I've also dreamt about trying to read C++ code, but it didn't seem to change nearly as much as actual text.
