So this isn't an EDC community, but I'm sure a couple of you still carry a basic pocket/utility/hobby knife for work, everyday tasks, or whatever. Post 'em ITT.These are the two main users I've been carrying lately.

Unfortunately when you combine the two it requires a tax stamp. So there's some red tape with the BATFE like any other class III weapon since you've turned it into a destructive feline and/or assault cat at that point. :\

No, a knife isn't for 'protection', I mean it could be, but that would be a last ditch. Just carry a gun or pepper spray for protection, bud. It makes a lot more sense if that's the purpose.

Either a Benchmade Skirmish or a Buck 110. I guess partially for a sense of security but mainly because people are always asking to borrow my knife to cut things. Thankful now that Texas stuck down local knife laws (Texas' law is pretty reasonable — up to 5.5" blade but in the old days some towns or cities would have shitty local laws prohibiting locking knives or blades over 3").

@previous (Metæ)Nice! I really like the 630 personally and the Buck 110 is just a classic, both are excellent knives, Metæ.
The only Benchmade knife I have right now is a RSK Mk1, which is really just a nice full sized griptilian, although I added AWT scales. Picked up a 320S recently too, but it won't be here until next week.
As far as security goes, I mean, sure it could be used for self defense, but it would really have to be a last ditch scenario to go there. The laws are a little more lenient in FL in some ways.

yeap. carry atm a cold steel pocket knife i think it is. got it as a gift and it's been great. it's a tanto which isn't my fav but it works fine for what i use it for. the flat blade comes in handy from time to time but i usually carry a drop point or a sheepsfoot.

You know what's up, Squeegee. I like a drop point or wharncliffe myself.
Cold Steel makes a decent product, although their marketing videos are... unique. The quality is still there though, damn good for production knives. The last few CS knives I had I traded or sold. I really liked the Code 4 and Tufflite for the most part though, I just didn't really carry them.
I don't have any sheepsfoot blades right now, but I do have a wharnie, although I honestly haven't carried her much since I got her back from the knife doktor.

@659,685 (Trashtivist !ncKvmqq0Bs)cold steel isn't bad, it's been a great knife. been using it daily for over a year and it's showing no kinda wear. i'd recommend them, but they are probably over priced for what they are. sturdy knives though despite the fiberglass-whatever-resin handle. not bad quality for a company known for making novelty medieval weapons.
then of course there's my formal dress knife that i carry on special occasions

my boss was watching the HSN channel or some shit and they were selling knives and they were doing this huge package deal with a whole bunch of knives and you'd get like a dozen each or something. basically a wholesale package, and it was like 144 knives for 29.99 or something really cheap. he ordered it and now we have knives everywhere at work. they are super cheap knives that go dull pretty quick and have plastic handles that'll break and really they are just shitty, shitty knives. but perfect for cutting tape and plastic packaging. we've barely gone through 1/10th of them and we've now had them for years. we'll never be without a knife. in fact it's funny, no one even bothers to look for them or keep up with them. if one gets misplaced, just get a new one out. it's faster than trying to find where you left it. lol

oh yeah, of course. and they had colorful handles and some of them were printed with stuff like "POLICE" or "FIRE AND RESCUE" and crap on them. the best ones are the super simple little folding drop point knives, i grabbed like 6 of them and hid them in my desk so everyone else has to use the little half serrated ones which aren't nearly as good. all the rest ended up being like 4" blades and are pretty big and no one likes them all that much.

There's nothing wrong with that, man. If it does the job, that's all that matters, it's just a tool. You should post it anyway, if you feel like it that is.
Whether it's a $10 Mora, a $20 Ontario Rat 1 (one of my all time favorite folders), or a Ganzo that's an unserious fraud illegal clone of a well known knife, there's plenty of really grate inexpensive knives out there that preform as well or better than some $50-100 knives.

The videos are hilarious, but agreed, CS isn't bad at all.
Honestly their price point on a lot of their stuff is fair when it comes to quality and materials, despite the mall-ninja vibe, they aren't junkers. You can pay a bit more for a CTS-XHP steel version of a lot of their folders, but some of those start getting into the price range where you should shop around. Their knives do withstand a lot ab/use, even if their torture tests are unrealistic, but... still fun to watch.
The Buck 271 is a grate looking knife too. Elegant, reasonably sized, a good 'gentleman's knife' I think. Plus I just like rosewood. FYI they have a fairly decent markup on Amazon and eBay right now, not that you're looking to sell or anything.
This is my current 'going out'/'formal' knife, but I'm still undecided about keeping it.
