Topic: well, looks like my router is broken

i think i bought it in like 2004 or something. let's see, i had DSL for a year and then i think i switched to cable as soon as it became available and i had to get a new modem and router. the modem still works just fine but it can't handle more than i think 15mbps and when i went to 30 i had to (finally) get a new modem. that was 2 years ago.

anyway, it's funny, i've never worn out a modem or a router before, they've always just grown obsolete. they used to grow obsolete in a matter of, like, a year or two tops but after about 2004 or so things just kind of stalled out in a huge way. i wonder if it's related to big cable companies buying up net service providers and bringing their competition "under their wing." lol, what am i saying, of course that's the reason.

anyway, never thought it would happen but i wore out a linksys wireless router.

More like a board with more than just a few parts has a part or as often a connection that has failed.
Keeping any electronic anything at a stable temperature helps life everlasting.

Never hurts to open a box and take a hard look at all connections. But stuff is so cheep now - Probably best to replace - Still I always have to look inside and on occasion I am shocked to see the defect starring right at me.

And of course when something fails to work its OK to hit it with a soft hammer cause actually that often works (for a while anyway)
