The Man in the High Castle was a nice alternate history novel by Phillip K. Dick. The series... I don't know. If you want an alternate history you can go watch Vikings on the Aliens channel. I don't know that any PKD story has ever really successfully been made into a film. It's just a crazy thing that your have to get.

Well there have been some grate films/etc 'inspired' by PKD works, but yeah, terrible adaptations. Although 'The Man in the High Castle' hasn't been too disappointing for me at least.
