Topic: Obese man sues Golden Corral for $2 Million. Kicked out after only 7 hours of snacking

A man from Massachusetts is suing Golden Corral Corporation for 2 million dollars, for false advertising, after being literally thrown out of one of the chain’s restaurants by the employees, last Thursday.

According to witnesses, the 51 year old man who lives on welfare, was expelled from the restaurant after he then spent more than 7 hours on-site, ingesting a quantity of food which has been estimated between 50 and 70 pounds.

Despite the fact that the restaurant advertised the buffet as “all-you-can-eat”, the manager of the establishment seems to have lost patience at some point, telling him that his meal would be free but asking him to leave. The manager’s intervention angered Mr Fleming, and a brief altercation took place before he was finally pushed out of the restaurant.

“It’s a serious injustice, and I am deeply insulted!” Mr. Flemmings told reporters. “With my income, I rarely go to the restaurant, so I try to get as much as I can for my money when I do. This was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Not only did they kick me out while I was still hungry, but they looked at me like I was disgusting, like I was not worthy of eating there! It’s unacceptable, and I demand a compensation!”

where is the $2 million amount from? Was he going to eat $2 million of food?

Sues Golden Corral. Ad says all you can eat.
> they kick me out while I was still hungry

"ingesting a quantity of food which has been estimated between 50 and 70 pounds."

He has every reason to sue.

I understand the article but I want to know where the two million in damages are from.

Seems unlikely based on the pic.

> I try to get as much as I can for my money

If this was true then he would have left when they said his meal was free.

Okay, here's what actually happened. The man who was 'thrown out' was filling condoms with Golden Corral bread rolls, swallowed them, and intended act as a bread roll mule so these slightly lubricated bread rolls could be sold on the black market. The manager got hip to this after noting that he himself was missing 50lb+ plus worth of product every week, which he had also intended to sell on the bread roll black market. Once he spotted the gentleman in question acting suspiciously with a box of Durex and basketful of bread rolls, he knew he'd found the leak.

Exaggerated. However based on a backstory on the web, your version has some credibility.

All you can eat restaurants are the most USAmerican thing I have ever heard of.
Fat peoples feels are worth a dollar value to body weight ratio it would seem.

We may win when we lose, if we have done what we can; for by so doing we have made real at least some part of that incomplete story.
One may adulterate the truth as we write. What I'm striving for is authenticity; none of which will be found here.

Well let me think. Nothing really comes to mind, I used to piss off this attractive girl that worked there because I wouldn't stop singing.

We would smoke a bunch of pot, drink in the kitchen (sometimes, I never did, can't really work drunk) we'd steal food, hook up friends. I was a dishwasher which was a fucking stupid idea at a Buffett. I did kick ass cleaning though.

End of story, I walked out on them during a rush after 2.5 months.
The assistant manager was talking shit, I expressed I didn't feel that was right, she said "if you don't like it, then leave!" I lifted my hat an inch out of anger and amidst hoots from the crew I turned back to my station and worked for another hour, letting my rage subside and decided to rationally walk to the front, clock out, walked to the back, told one person I'd see them at their house later, and left.

They didn't notice for about an hour, then they were pretty much fucked for the day

lol, i had a buddy at a restaurant i worked at and he was taking shots with some people in his section and one of the GM's was fucking there doing a walk through. first of all this goofy mother fucker had the street smarts of a 7 year old, awesome guy, and a fucking stock broker now, but dude's a fuck wit. anyway, he was in there taking shot in the middle of his section and the GM told the manager who got super pissed and called his drunk ass into the back and fired him. and boy was he pissed, was made a huge scene and was talking about how he does that all the time to help sell shots and HE DID sell more alcohol than anyone else and always made bank, but his argument made zero sense as far as management went. because of course, he was fucking drinking at work. but he didn't care about logic, or being caught breaking, like, they said TABC regulations and shit, but whatever, he was yelling and hitting his chest like a gorilla and he went into his section and sat down with his table and was all, "hey, i'm fired, so, i'm going to sit here and drink with y'all," and they were all, "fuck yeah dude, fuck the man, let's get drunk," but the managers were like, "we're calling the police," because they'd already asked him multiple times to get his shit and get off the property. so, he gets up and yells something from scarface as he's walking out, and he kicks the doors as hard as he can which actually shattered all of the glass and sounded like a car crash it was so loud. everyone jumped, he even scared himself at how much damage it did, he kinda just stood there watching shattered glass fall to the floor. then he ran.

later that night we caught up with him at the frat house. he came walking in without a shirt on and sweating like a dog. after he left he just kept right on running and he said he threw his shirt in the fucking river as he ran across the bridge - in case the cops were looking for him in his work shirt. lol. just lol. the whole thing was fucking epic. it was the most epic firing/no-i'm-quitting scene i have ever witnessed.

edit: oh yeah, oh yeah, and at work we all (there were a bunch of us frat guys there) had to insist that we never saw him again after that night. the managers were like, "really, he's one of your frat brothers and you haven't seen him," and we were all, "yeah, no, last we heard y'all said he kicked the door which we didn't see and we haven't seen him or heard from him since. just vanished," and they were all like, "mmhmm, well... mmhmm."

i don't have a good one myself. i was fired for missing a couple of days, but i deserved it. none of my quitting stories are interesting, just let 'em know i'm quitting pretty quick and they cut my hours as soon as i said to. the dude kicking the door down is probably the best work story i've got from my restaurant work. except for maybe the car crashing through the front of the building and killing my section. not any people. but i didn't have any tables that day...

i loved working in food service, actually. it was fun and high energy, i miss that kinda of environment.

That sounds pretty intense!

When I was working at Denny's while living in a halfway house back in the days, I had to stop a fight between a friend of mine and some random drummer that had come to Denny's with his band after playing at a local bar. I saw my buddy's girlfriend get knocked down so I set down the dish tub and jogged outside to try and settle things, there was a third male there too just kinda watching. I heard a click and recognized it as my friend getting his knife ready (the drummer had hit him in the face and it ripped out one of his new piercings) so I bear hugged my buddy against the railing and wouldn't let him go, and told the drummer to get the fuck out of there. I ended up driving them home (which I could have gone to prison for, he was a felon (on probation you can't be around felons) AND I left the place I was supposed to be (could have been charged with the equivalent of an escape from a jail or law facility)) and coming back to work to finish the night with no further complications.

I honestly hate working in the food industry, serving processed poison to people who don't know and don't care. Being a server was fun (because the movie Waiting was a recent release) but I never made as much as the females I worked with, no matter how much I kicked ass.

you're absolutely right about the females earning more. it did piss me off the number of very attractive and high earning female who were also terrible at their job and lazy and push the real work off on everyone around them. and we all just put up with it cause hot flirty girls get to do whatever they want.

That sucks.
I hosted a very special dinner at a restaurant owned by Gilligan's Island Captain. 65+ people. Reservations a three months in advance. Took 2+ hours to seat us. We had a limited menu do to group size. Huge delays on service. Too long ago to remember the bill but it was huge. Over $1700 USA. Pissed I tipped 10% and wait staff ran after me to the parking lot demanding more. They got more because they explained how management fucked things up.

It was my impression that it is. The two restaurant environments I've worked in have had systems for dividing up the tips.

It might be that USAmericans simply tip more, but all I've heard that from is stereotypes. Don't know how true it is.
