WIP: Nothing in this post has been written in stone and is subject to constant changes.
I will keep it short and simple. Moderators will have a less privacy invading options. I won't go in to too much detail as some stuff is still being tested.
Moderators are anonymous. No more hyperlinks. We are a community. Together we make or break it.
I feel that with less power for mods, but with more mods, things will be better. No more profile stalking, no more geolocating, no more "i am better than you cuz im a mod" and so on.
So in the days to come I will be adding people I think would delete crap and still leave some room for fun and some trolling.
I expect the new style moderators to just use the site as they always have, and if there's a report or they see something out of order; deal with it. And then just continue to have a good time, or whatever.
Please do not bug me with requests to be added because I will never add you then.

It sounds like new mods will only be able to delete posts and PM users(?). It's not going to be like Lag houls where 75% of the userbase are mods, and everyone's IP address is freely available.

Yeah, there may be some things added/changed, but it is very unlikely IP addressed will be seen by mods again. Maybe in a different format so mods can still spot patterns and stuff. But it shouldnt be needed to go in so deep. Use the board, delete when needed and have fun!

maybe. It'll heavily depend on the details of what they can see. honestly, kimmo had some good ideas as far as the wiseguy system. no profile viewing after a few days or fixed number of posts. it'd be easy to have a karma/warn system so that profile viewing wouldn't be needed to determine if someone needs banning.

Yo sim...I was of course a target recently of one rogue Mod....So my take on this is simple. Basically I could not disagree with the General nature/plan/ on Mods b 1/2
Mod told me he wanted to keep a Drama down and end it...The only mistrake Mod made was not having the balls to tell me what he wanted at that time.
He just sucked his own dick and said after a rather long discussion in PM's that I was out for the count. Take notice I did NOT File any appeal.
After getting to know you a bit via PM perhaps I made a Mistrake re no appeal ....but I have a strange form of respect for that Mod, as much as I should disrespect him NOT for what he did to me, but for other reasons re his statement that he supports CP, OR at least the rite of "someone" to be into CP. That mod however does deserve a great deal of respect for coming up with a solution that no other person has come up with and I mean since time period of 1994 and that is a hell of a long time.
Last PM from that Mod gave me his reasons for what he did. I understand I really do. But so he gets this message??? Honestly if he had thought for just one moment and asked me If I was willing to help him - Well hell the last time I said no to any Sysops or Mods was.
Hey if I do not care for a fair rule that is posted rule and followed fairly by Mods or Sysops, then I just say there are 10 Million for real places to play on net and Good By---I can prove that I have said Good by and only returned on email asking me to please come back.

I think a major part of the problem was mods getting personal vendettas, maybe more mods with less powers will fix this because they will all be dealing with individual posters less

I think the main cons of this would be less cohesion in moderation, since there will be mods with a wider range of opinions who can't see each other, and impersonations, but I'm probably over-stating things here, I doubt it'll be that bad. People who mod badly can easily be removed and impersonators easily called out.
On the whole, I like it. Anon mods means that everyone gets equal treatment, and more of them means that the board has more or less 24 hour protection.

Since 4chan uses a similar system with janitors as stated @89,285, (S) you can look no further than 4chan for the pros and cons. You can tell when there's a rogue or pissed off janitor on 4chan when perfectly normal threads seem to 404 for no reason, and tripfags on 4chan seems to always be getting banned. New mod philosophy: Don't mod for aspies!
If people can't tell a troll from a genuine poster, they are aspies. Don't lock topics to protect them.
If a topic incites drama that means people have genuine concerns that the mods aren't addressing. Don't lock a topic to protect aspies for drama.
If a post is a repost people will ignore. Only aspies open up every thread and post in there despite not enjoying the experience. Don't lock a topic to protect aspies from themselves.
Mod for the true and honest posters - delete illegal content, delete off-topic replies, and delete dox. If you want to go further, arbitrate debates and arguments while remaining neutral (this would be too hard for most people - they do not understand logic and would not stay neutral).
