Biography
As the son of an English teacher, I grew up in a house where you had a choice: you could read a book, or you could get hit in the head with one! My mother’s’ passion for reading was contagious, and ever since childhood, it has been my passion too.
Many people know me for the roles I have performed as a professional actor, such as Kunta Kinte in ROOTS, or Geordi La Forge in STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION. But most often, I am recognized for my 30-year journey hosting and producing READING RAINBOW.
Today, I am fortunate enough to be the co-owner and steward of the READING RAINBOW brand, and am thrilled to continue our mission: ensuring that new generations of children develop a passion for reading and a love of the written word.
