I heard that it was still an insufficient power source compared to nuclear or another renewable source.
I can still foresee the future where instead of having to pay the electricity bill to some corporation like Edison, you'd have to pay a bill to whomever you rent your apartment complex to or perhaps an increase in the cost of rent and lease.
It still puzzles me as to why most Republicans and others still do not approve the use of renewable energy like solar. The sun isn't going anywhere until a certain point where there is no guarantee that the human race will still be around, so why not utilize it?

The Republican/Libertarian objection isn't to the use of solar power but to government subsidization of it. It was (and is) a very expensive electricity source.
I think it will be the future and solar will become the cheapest energy source some day. Technology always gets better.

We can run a pipe line directly to the sun. Suck the hot gases back down to earth. Power everything.

That would use up the sun so therefore it's not renewable and you'll be on the search for another source again later.

Just the U.S.? What about the world? The U.S. doesn't lay claim to the sun.
