The mistake that has been made in this crisis is how we formulate the problem. We think there are 3 solutions to the crisis:
A) let them all come in
B) let the good ones come in but not the bad ones
C) Don't allow them to come in
All of those solutions are relying on the assumption that there is a certain amount of refugees and when we figure out what to do with them the crisis is over.
But this is a fantasy, the world has developed into a environment where mass migration happens and there is no guarantee that it won't keep heading that direction.
So a open/practical door policy will fail given enough time and refugees, so will a close door policy since the chaos will eventually reach us.

A question. Here in the USA, all restaurants kitchens are staffed by immigrants. Basic labor at minimum cost. Same for house cleaning & car washes. They pick our fruit and vegetables.
Our garbage is collected by immigrants. If its dirty work...Immigrants.
In Iceland and Denmark where do you see immigrants working?

Well I was once a hotel cleaner in Iceland and everyone i worked with who also worked full time, they were immigrants.
In Denmark I'm not so sure how things are. But I know a guy who works in a company and in that company he is surrounded by all nationalities. This guy i just said I know... He hates his job.
