Topic: UK European Union referendum

RWBY Rhubarb? !!iNo3FkiZx started this discussion 10 years ago #50,334

After talks with EU leaders, the British Prime Minister has called a referendum on the UK remaining in the EU. It's happening on the 23rd of June. Naturally, we should gauge the Minichan opinion before that date.

As there is no way to restrict the voting to Brits only, I have devised a workaround- upon entry into this topic, every Minichanner will be granted British citizenship. Don't worry, it will wear off when you leave this topic.
Poll option Votes Percentage Graph
The UK should leave the EU 8 57%
The UK should not leave the EU 6 43%

Actually, last I heard, the polls suggest that there's a roughly even split in opinion- with a slight preference towards staying.

And I think I know how you're voting, Svet.

Look, I know you're not the brightest guy around, despite your profession. You can scarcely make a post without gratuitously misspelling something. But it is, perhaps, not a good idea to shoot our own economy in the foot because we're scared of the brown people. Because that's what leaving could do.

And I've yet to hear any compelling assurances from the outties that leaving won't pose a significant risk to our trade with other European nations, nor jeapordise relations with countries that should be some of our closest allies.

You're such a knob. "Being scared of brown people" has nothing to do with exiting the EU. London is the multicultural place in Europe before the EU and in current times, the UK has always welcomed skilled migrants. The meme about racist and brexit being linked is moronic and old. Get a real argument you dumb kid.

For somebody getting haughty about "real arguments", you sure didn't have much to say about the economy or diplomatic relations. Typical.

And it's surprisingly easy to believe that the person getting his panties in an unholy twist about refugees is indeed somewhat motivated by xenophobia.

Your /pol/-tier posts suggest it's not quite that benevolent and rational.

But whatever. I actually agree that there's such a thing as too much immigration, and it might be that the UK is getting some drawbacks from the current immigration setup. But I'm not convinced it's worth leaving over, or that the potential repercussions are worth it either.

Also, I regret calling you stupid. I doubt you'd appreciate an apology anyway, I'm just regretful that I lost my cool.

Remember I am a most improper Jew as I cut myself off from them. Married in a Methodist church to a former Catholic and have even on a few occasions practiced Christian Cannibalism by drinking Jesus Blood and chowing down on Jesus crummy dry horrid cracker - At least when I do this in a Greek Church you get one Hell of a chunk of fresh made bread with more to eat on the way out. Its also breaking the Greek Church rules to do that and not be a confirmed card carrying member of the Greek Church.

In work overload and its a lot of Math stuff today. Betfair's past accuracy going back multiple USA elections is EXTRAORDINARY. There was even one better source Intrade, but its currently closed.

My head aches from attempting to do a quick search on accuracy for UK stuff. Betfair made history recently paying off 3 days in advance for the Scottish vote. Ended up super accurate vs polls.

However there appear to be lots of hits and misses in detailed seats of the PM. In general ok but NOT ok enough if one has money ridding on a particular person without one hell of a lot of work.

In US elections looking at the polls vs Betfair is super easy and our most famous Nate Silver and Sam Wong often mention the accuracy of Betfair for US Stuff. UK is not so much so easy but I will from time to time take a look - Just to busy with Math today.

Ask Google for comparison of Betfair vs Polls and punch in any year in the past - Perfect results - Try that with UK stuff and Head Ache!! Ask Google to show accuracy of any given poll over the years is easy - Might try that with UK Polls. When my head stops hurting that is.

IF I had it do to all over I wood have moved to a Boolean search for this for UK.

It's a straight shot in numbers but that doesn't mean it will be democratic. Only of it had 100% turnout and even then if 49% vote to remain in you can't seriously say that it's democratic to completely leave.

The democratic thing in that case would to find a compromise between the two.
