You might not like the reason why they started counting the years, but that is why they started counting them. It's good enough that they changed the naming convention. No one is going to be in favor of changing what year it is entirely just because you want to distance yourself from Jesus as much as possible. That's not so much atheism as it is bigotry. We don't have to be religious or follow religion to accept that it's part of our history. It's not a part of our history we need to be proud of, but we shouldn't change the history books in the name of secularism.

WTF? I don't care if they stick to BC, and AD. Changing it would be nice, but either way is fine. BC and AD have been standardized, and everyone knows it, it makes sense to stick with it.
But this is just a half assed attempt to change it. It has nothing to do with the common era.
Either:
A. Keep BC and AD
B. Change to a better system.
But CE and BCE are just stupid half-assed attempts at changing it.
