Topic: What is the fear of a Trump presidency?

Metæ⭐️ started this discussion 10 years ago #50,309

The fear on the left reminds me of 2009 when the right wing was in a tizzy about the birth certificate, Jeremiah Wright's "god damn america" sermons, Saul Alinsky, Bill Ayers, Kenyan Marxism, Islamofascism, and ACORN but in the end all we got was George W's foreign policy and a healthcare plan designed by Mitt Romney and the Heritage Foundation.

A Trump presidency will be the same. Maybe he approves the Keystone pipeline but nothing will really change, just like the Federal budget went up every year during Ronald "government is the problem" Reagan's tenure*. It's all marketing and window dressing and rhetoric in the end.

*By balancing the budget, slashing welfare, repealing Glass-Steagall, and signing the Defense of Marriage Act, Bill Clinton is arguably the most conservative postwar president.

Obama is a centrist who rarely said anything the rest of the world raised their eyebrows at in 07/08.

Trump is far more moderate than he'd have you believe, but he's also willing to verbally masturbate the fears and anxieties of poor white people in ways that the rest of the world finds horrifying.

Well let's slash welfare as far as it can go! The once economic center of Detroit has been blown out by the collapse of the trading on poor people to settle debt which they can't settle. (Which has been settled on the backs of the taxpayer) Let's blow out more economic towns! Yay! The rich get richer! Let's let the dream of an American republic die under the weight of rich people. Just like the Roman Republic did. I suppose it's where we were headed all along. Because fuck our citizens! It's not like we tax them to actually make any move to take care of them! Fuck the rabble. They'll make new babies.

hes a reality tv star who failed, he's a business person who has failed (in the sense most of his businesses have filed for bankruptcy)- he talks about keeping american jobs in america despite the fact that all of the workers for his "brand" are not american and not even in the same hemisphere, no experience in politics at all, not even being on a city council let alone anything that would prepare you for running for the presidency, no fucking clue what hes talking about (constantly says he didn't do stuff, then when the proof is in front of him he just says "oh i dont remember". Has 0 plan for how he is going to enact any of his policies, 0 plan for how he's going to interact with anyone in power when it comes to the rest of the world. Wants to build a wall that covers the entire bottom half of the united states, yet has no way or plan on how to pay for it or even get the project off the ground.

I could go on and on and on and on, donald trump is the biggest fucking retard who has ever ran for president, i would rather vote for george bush multiple times than i would vote for donald trump, a vote for trump is a vote for the end of western civilization and some would argue civilization as a whole.

The fear seems to be on the right, not the left.

But that's what I mean: Clinton did more to cut welfare than Reagan. Clinton signed NAFTA, Obama's going to sign the TPP.

Regarding Detroit, I don't see how Trump would have done it any differently than Obama: taxpayer funded Chapter 11 bankruptcy and bailout of the big three automakers. Ultimately the people responsible for Detroit's woes are the people who stopped buying American cars. It's something that happened over like fifty years. Do you drive an American car? I don't blame you if you don't but if you didn't buy one then you have a share of the blame. You can't buy a Honda then wax lyrical about the plight of the poor Detroit autoworkers.

@previous (beckyderp !4aMoRa.T2Q)
The GOP has created a monster. I think the fear is Trump is self-funding and a real outsider, and not beholden to any donors or party bosses. And I guess because he has the "nuclear option" of going third party and taking the GOP down with him. I'm really surprised Fox News and the GOP weren't more deferential to him given that he can force a Democratic victory.

Does anyone have a picture of Tranny Trump much like there exists a picture of Tranny Dr. Phil, Tranny Kim Jong-un, and Tranny Matthew Miller?

However this ends, I think the GOP will start using superdelegates like the Democratic Party so the establishment favorite starts the race with a 500 delegate head start.
