A movie as a first date is a bad choice. Unless it's an afternoon movie, part of spending the day together, and you have an evening reservation for dinner or something like that planned.
Picking a girl up and chatting on the way to, and in line at the theater is cool, but then you sit together for a couple of hours and can't talk without coming across as an asshole for talking through a movie. Who cares what sort of movie it is. You get out of the movie and have to kick shit off really quickly as you drive her home? That's a tough sell for anyone because you'll only be chatting about the movie and shit anyway. If you're comfortable enough together because you know each other a little, but this is the first real date without mutual friends around, skip the movie because it's just getting in the way of what you want to do anyway.
