I'm almost jealous. I even invited the Mormons, and they wouldn't come. Shit.

Do you know why Jehova's witnesses proselytize?
The turnover among members is so high they need a constant influx to not die out. It's not anything to do with their theology.

They stopped coming after I told them I was a Freemason.

Last reply for the evening.
Yes both Jehova's and Mormons once a week. I have canned speech always at the ready.
Jehova's - What you want me to join and fuck up your chances to get into heaven. Limit is 144,000 and there are many million Jehova's as it is.
Mormons. Would you guys and gals care for Scotch or Bourbon? They can also see a wine rack from the front door.
Jehovas get extra points if they can talk me into joining their clan.
See ya all on Monday - V day tomorrow!!!

I go years without seeing any. At least at my house. But they're definitely around in this part of Cornwall. They just don't seem to be very proactive.
There was a surprise encounter a while ago, at my cleaning job at the hotel. I was outside, and a woman with a little girl approached and asked if I was the proprietor (yeah, the young man out front sweeping is running the place). I said no, and asked what she wanted. She suddenly handed me a Jehovah Witness leaflet and started saying something about how World War 2 didn't change the world. I just responded that it "wasn't my thing", and she surprisingly broke off her pitch and moved along.
I also remember, when I was a kid, there were two who came to my house a few times and spoke with my dad. I don't know why he indulged them. Maybe he just enjoyed the discussions.

@OP
They leave when you try to stone them for saying "Jehovah". Just keep a bucket of stones by your door.

That's weird. Did they even send you a letter or anything? You could sue for false advertising because the commercial does promise a free Book of Mormon.
@650,493 (C)
Apparently it takes 5,700 hours of door to door preaching to make a JW. 5,700 hours at the minimum wage is $41,325 so JWs must be the most expensive and valued converts.

Really? Did they turn tail and run or what?

They immediately stopped talking, broke eye contact, and left.

to turn down an invitation to visit you would be like like turning down a winning dollar lottery ticket...I just do not understand such craziness..

I have a coworker who is a Jehovah Witness and she doesnt buy used goods, because she believes that it opens you up to possible demonic possession.

they've all been nice
more than door-to-door they tend to just have stands in the metro stations and you can just walk past those

You'd think Jehovah would protect his followers from that? Or they could pray it away?
@650,572 (Triptych !!/xkPL9myM)
They're always well dressed and very polite but I don't want them coming to my house and bothering me on weekends. I mean, I don't go to people's houses with a copy of The God Delusion and try to sell them atheism. The idea of going to a stranger's house and telling them they have the wrong beliefs and they're going to hell just seems kinda repugnant to me.

after they leave you stalk them to theyre holmes
wait until they go to bed and ring doorbell. offer satanism leaflets and give their private parts a good grope before tipping your cowboy hat and wishing them a good day.
go back home.

That's a good point. They did call me once but I was on vacation so I asked them to call me back. But they never called me back.
I filled out a new request yesterday for them to come back. I gave them my business address.
