Topic: What is the best way to protect yourself from Black Widows?

I want to retrieve something from our storage shed, but it is infested with black widows and I do not want to get bit and die.

I heard wearing boots is good, but can't the spiders just crawl up the leg into the gap between the boot and the leg?

Is the storage shed full of leaks? You could get a couple of those bombs they sell that kill fleas etc and bomb the shit out of the shed.

There are tons of black widows where I live too

The best thing to do is ignore them
I have never heard of anybody getting bit around here and they are not aggressive

Unless you're 3 years old or deathly allergic to the venom, you should probably be okay. Black widow bites can be annoying, but they shouldn't be an issue for an adult with access to basic medical care. Try letting a lot of sunlight into the storage before going in or just putting some lighting in there as it will drive the spiders back into the nooks and crannies, and kook had some solid advice in not leaving any cuffs on your clothing open for things to crawl into.

bug bombs. like, 2 or three. just toss them in there and fog them out, then do it again and a 3rd time for luck. once is probably enough, but fucking spiders, man.

I just have Medi-Cal. I remember someone got bit and had to walk with a crotch for a few weeks. So that is probably why I'm terrified.
