Quality employee? Of course. Cost of replacement factor vs a loan.
Is she cute? Do you think she might be willing to work off the loan in the evening?

You mean giving without expectation of repayment? It depends on what their trouble is (ie if it's a real unforeseen circumstance or they're irresponsible with money and/or blow it all on drink or drugs) and what kind of person they are but I think you're going into dangerous territory though as one problem could get beget another, and another and you can't have an employee hitting you up for money on a regular basis.

@OP
Could you elaborate any on the nature of the employee's trouble?

She's pretty new and rough around the edges, but I think she's smart and has good potential. Fuck off with the rest of your syntax post, thanks.

No expectation of repayment, that would complicate things. Just like a "hey, see you've had some issues, take this no strings attached." Maybe $300. She's had car troubles hit and her SO has had trouble getting work (seasonal/layoffs). I think I would tell her it's a one-time thing. Idk, I am on the fence. I'll probably hold off.

Now listen up. I stand on the first line n disregard the added humor > Quality employee? Of course. Cost of replacement factor vs a loan
HowSomEver you said > She's pretty new and rough around the edges, but I think she's smart and has good potential.
Doubt I wood give her a loan on the basis that she is new and rough around the edges. That said - How much work was it for you to find her and how much work wood it be to replace her.
Running a business ALWAYS is a matter of the bottom line.
