I was laid off (furloughed indefinitely) in December and now I have to apply for Obamacare. Great. I'm a poor American and the Affordable Care Act has my back, right? I'll be eligible for a subsidy and a bronze plan with all the trimmings.
The problem is: I have to predict my future income. What if I can't find a job and make less than $11,000 in 2016? I'll have no subsidy and be on the hook for the full cost of the cheapest Bronze plan in my area ($2,184). I'm also not eligible for Medicaid because I'm an able bodied adult with no kids.
