Yeah, unfortunately its usually the dogs themselves that have to pay the price for asshole owners. About a year ago I a had to throw objects, from the safety of my fenced yard, at a couple of pits that had my neighbors cat cornered. But really some of the sweetest dogs I've encountered have been pit bulls.

They're actually kinder than most dogs. The fact is that a well socialized pit will not even make a good guard dog. But you're right, once they go on attack mode, they're almost impossible to stop.

Personal interaction. I've been around them most of my !life. My aunt used to breed both American pit bull terriers and dalmations. Dalmatians are much more rowdier and problematic if not exercised enough. I also got to interact with other responsible breeders, and that's pretty much the general consensus.

and i still don't think pit bulls are more dangerous than other big dogs? guard dogs? strong dogs? wild dogs? i feel like because there are more pit bulls than other dogs in the us (judging by how many pits end up in shelters, how many don't get spayed/neutered, how many backyard breeders i see all the dang time) that it makes statistical sense if you hear more about maulings by pit bulls. i also think it's a sensationalized topic at this point that local news and shitty news will jump on and people will talk about it bc it's a combo of demonizing something and feeling bad for dead children people love that. and people associate pit bulls with poor people trailer trash and black people so that's another reason for me to question the motives for this discussion?

I have tried to explain it 100 times in the making of this post. I have painted millions of explanations. Yet all seem to fall to short.
In one way i worry what trump has said about Muslims with his proposed policies.
But in another way, trump is a big fat juicy fuck you to the establishment. And what have they ever done for me except being anti religion and pro feminism yet failing to improve the lives of the poor.
I hate them so much that I would rather vote in a duck.

Word. I know a guy that has a really well socialized pit. It just sat there while someone robbed his house. On one hand, that's a really nice, friendly dog.
On the other hand, there are several "family" pits near where I live. I've been bitten by one of them once just walking down the street. I'm often tempted to carry spray or a wrench or hammer in my pocket just in case one goes fucking nuts when it gets off the leash.
They're nice dogs until they're not - then they're a threat to the community. Had the one that had bitten me ended up biting a child, then it certainly would have made the local news and the dog might have been put down.
