It appears that Microsoft has officially acquired the old MinecraftEDU client mod for the game and is now releasing a brand new version titled, Minecraft: Education Edition.

About time! Did you know that only 56% of American children know proper block placement? And just 34% can build a basic redstone circuit? It's outrageous!
Thankfully, this educational edition can teach the nation's youth to play Minecrafy properly

Did you know that educational facilities do not use Minecraft as a means of teaching how to play Minecraft, but as tool for other subjects such as history, science, and mathematics?

It's not for the kids, it's to teach adults how to play minecraft. Don't you watch southpark?

All that crap is a waste of time. Probably just crowbarred in there to entice the parents in. The real lesson to be learned is Minecraft skills. You can make a living off of Minecraft if you're good enough.
I swear, if my child couldn't build a functioning computer within Minecraft by the time they were 18, I would throw them the fuck out.

No. Minecraft is an important life skill. It's getting so damn important that one day it'll be a mandatory class too.

Uhh, why would playing a video game be a mandatory class in a public education system, troll?
It'll be used as a tool for teach other more important subjects like it is now.

I'm terrible at redstone, and I've been playing since Alpha.

By the way, I think I learned how to make a more compact chicken grinder.
