By winning the Repiblican nomination, he is dragging the GOP further to the right. There is no way they can break into the moderate vote with Trump as their candidate.

Nothing at all. The branding and window dressing changes a bit but nothing really. Just like Obama. You may remember euphoric people hoping Obama would change things and stop wars and institute universal health care and stop global warming and the dysphoric people who feared he was a Kenyan Muslim who would make the US into a Marxist caliphate with mandatory readings of Jeremiah Wright's "god damn america" sermons.
Both groups were wrong. The US has too much inertia for the President to change it's course. You might as well worry about the "debt ceiling" crisis or the "government shutdown".

Your're underestimating the amount of lower class Americans who are (rightly or wrongly) fed up with immigration and the open borders policy of both parties. Trump's non-immigration positions simply don't matter.

It is but there's nothing the GOP can do to change it. They'll never get a majority of Hispanics or African-Americans to vote for them and worse they'll alienate their base (or what's left of it).
Trump is saying "fuck it" and embracing the party's white prole base wholeheartedly and as such has an authenticity that the country club GOP establishment can't match, hence his poll numbers. This is so powerful that Trump's positions on gay marriage, abortion, gun control, taxes, foreign policy, etc do not matter much to the GOP base.
Also as a genuine outsider Trump appeals to the disaffected of both parties. Trump vs. Hillary would be a Trump landslide but Trump vs. Sanders would be really interesting.
