while a third said they could go three days without washing.It's only in the last fifty to sixty years (since the advent of bathrooms with showers) that the idea of a daily shower has become commonplace. The pressure to do that is actually social pressure rather than actual need. It's become popular because of the social need to smell good.

Almost every race smells distinctive to people who are not of that race. Also they don't wash their hair as frequently as whites, so you probably smell scalp

Those nasty weaves mean they don't wash their hair and smell like a wet dog. But that's beside the point, they probably just put a plastic bag their heads when they wash. Once every couple of days.

I usually can't smell people unless they have permitted their sweat to be acted on by bacteria, or they have eaten food that lingers on the breath, or they have eaten food that permits stink out of the skin pores (garlic is known for this effect), or they have applied some sort of perfume (possibly within a lotion, soap, antiperspirant, clothing fabric softener, or hand sanitizer).
I am reminded of the joke:
