I'm not sure!! They looked awfully maggoty but the oat bag was also full of eggs that strongly resembled grains of quinoa and what looked like cobwebs, so it was suggested that were caterpillars of some sort - cocoon creatures.

Yes. They have a central nervous system and directly response to stimuli in an animal like way. Central nervous system is a p good criteria.
