Topic: Fallout 4, pedophilia and the fight for humanity.

Denmark guy !jJEom8Ii3E started this discussion 10 years ago #49,340

Been thinking a lot about fallout 4, like what faction should i join? In the end i have gone with the brotherhood of steel. I don't regret murdering the railroad, especially since they would have no problem downing that bos air ship with those squires aboard. I also murdered danse, like he insisted.

Many wonder what the big deal with synths are, well, in the near end of it all you are face to face with a replica of your own son. A son pleading for its life and so sure you are it's father.

But you aren't. It was just another hellish nightmare produced by the synths. A synth parasite abusing your love for your son, deliberately or not.

Made me kinda realize that the battle we face as a species can be summarized by people trying to gain their humanity back.

So I wondered when I lost mine. It was when I was 13 and for the first time got to roam the Internet free from restrictions. Trying to look for porn, bdsm porn, would lead me to unspeakable immoral and illegal things. Things no kid should simply stumbled upon.

So you're fine with the BoS wanting to genocide all synths and (non-feral) ghouls, but not child deaths?

Fallout lets you kill kids again? Nice.

Not directly. Those child deaths are just implied. Like how you can blow up Megaton in Fallout 3, and it has those two kids living there.

No they don't. Just Moira.

Or are you just joking?

Being fine with it is far from it. But even the destruction of the Institute will have its casualties some of which are undoubtedly children.

I'm trying to say, whatever you choose, unacceptable casualties will be involved and that means that the gut-reAction to support the railroad or the minutemen is illconcieved and childish.

The Brotherhood are probably the most destructive faction of all, then. At least with the Institute, you can take over and potentially steer them to a better path.

The Brotherhood will not stop trying to genocide synths and ghouls, and they'll also intimidate farmers into giving up their crops. If you're concerned about "casualties", then they're the worst choice.

Also, the Minutemen aren't a "childish" choice. They're pretty much unambiguously good, and can get serious enough to take on the Institute and Brotherhood. With them, the Commonwealth gets moral, competent protectors rather than shadowy overlords that want to force an ideology on them.

HOW DARE YOU!? The minutemen are failures, losers if you will, they ride and borrow from past glory as if they all forgot how it ended... In some sort of massacre where the minutemen failed everything despite being at its peak of its power.

Meanwhile bos is conducting invasions and growing into the most powerful human military force in a world that has to many enemies.

lolbud. The effectiveness of the Minutemen depends entirely on you. If you help them, they can establish fortified settlements all across the Commonwealth, all of them with artillery. Plus, they can beat both the Brotherhood and the Institute. They're far from losers.

> In some sort of massacre where the minutemen failed everything despite being at its peak of its power.
They weren't at their peak. It was actually a slow decline of lots of failures and a weakening leadership, as Preston explains. But the player can fix that, and make the Minitemen reliable and respected once again.

> Meanwhile bos is conducting invasions and growing into the most powerful human military force
That's great. Except if you're a synth. Or a ghoul. Or somebody who has too much technology. Or just anyone who disagrees with the Brotherhood.

As a side note, I actually supported the Brotherhood in my first playthrough. They are pretty cool, and the original Fallout buds. I'm just pointing out that, if you're going to compare factions in terms of ideology, they're pretty nasty.

Of course you can restore the minutemen to glory, but why would you when they so obviously fail to keep the glory?

You first meat them in a situation where they and their crack addicted grandma would have been made extinct. You can help them but who can tell if they won't just mess it all up again?

The bos might murder synths and ghouls but honestly, the truth is nobody will miss them and it's a fair price for a faction that's capable of bringing in the calvary for something as nasty as the Institute.

You don't know what will happen in their future. I can just as easily claim that the Sole Survivor will lead them into an everlasting golden age.

All we know is that he Minutemen can, under player guidance, set up dozens of safe new settlements and provide help for all the Commonwealth. Meanwhile, the Brotherhood will go and intimidate the occasional farm into giving up crops.

> The bos might murder synths and ghouls but honestly, the truth is nobody will miss them and it's a fair price
Okay, so you're okay with genociding thinking, living beings with families and friends? Didn't you start this whole thing on the basis of murder being bad?

> it's a fair price for a faction that's capable of bringing in the calvary for something as nasty as the Institute.
...Except that the Railroad and the Minutemen can take down the Institute too. And they don't even have to pay the "fair price" of genociding two races.

DAMNIT LETTUCE YOU ARE TRIPPING. We don't know what will happen in the future, that's true which makes it a matter of speculation.

The minutemen are simply there as a matter of circumstances, the railroad? Well let's just say that despite the huge amount of human suffering, their concerns are synths, even synths/machines of questionable sentience.

The bos might murder and genocide, but at least they grow and expand, ready to invade unknown territories, only to help humanity and save it from something like the Institute.

You see, bos fought the Institute even though they didn't have to, the minutemen tried to rebuild the very thing that failed.

This is a game we speak about, sure it would be great if bos left ghouls and 100% friendly synths alone. It's still a game and the options are limited, you must not only think of synths and ghouls, but humanity as a whole.

Buddy, I'm not sure I can discuss this with you if your standards change so wildly! First you state your objection to the Railroad and Minutemen because they kill children, but then you handwave intent to genocide as a negligible matter!

For all I know, next you will be change your position again, and be trying to convince me that only the Atom Cats can save humanity!

Obviously I'm not entirely convinced!

When I talk about the minutemen and the railroad murdering BOS children, i mean that the argument for which faction to support can't be ruled by who is not a brutal murderer, because they all are.

At least BOS joined the fight against the Institute, not because it had to but because it wanted to do it... For humanity as a whole.

The minutemen? Short sighted and untrustworthy regarding the future. They didn't join for humanity as a whole, but only for the common wealth at the very best

Actually, you are right. This Atom Cats are the only ones who can protect the Commonwealth. Sure the other factions have sizeable fighting forces, but the Atom Cats are the only faction that know how to make truly stylish power armour. Plus, their natural charisma is perfect for leading humanity into a better future.

So, yes, we are in agreement: the correct option is to destroy the Minutemen, Railroad, BoS and Institute, and instead join the Atom Cats.

Atom Cats rule!

Nha i was wrong. We should just murder those BOS people and their children.

Clearly ghouls and synths are worth it, even if it means the end of a force ready to travel to its enemies, it's enemies that threatens humanity.

The Atom Cats are far superior to any BoS force. A whole Prydwen-full of Brotherhood Knights are far inferior to just one Atom Cat. The Atom Cat power armour is modded to perfection, and the Atom Cat custom paint job commands fear and respect on the battlefield.

No other faction guarantees such military strength and benevolent leadership. This is just a fact.
