The chip uses encryption to send the number/exp. date/etc. and encrypts it differently every time* so if someone were to capture the chip data it would be useless cause it's encrypted different every time. Now, the magnetic stripe has the card number etc. but never changes and because it dates back to the '70s and its not encyrypted at all, its extremely easy to capture the data and use it to make purchases

Not losing but a lot of card numbers were being stolen in data breaches and something called a "skimmer" which is a little doodad you can stick on a credit card machine and record the magnetic stripe of every card that is used on it. The chip defeats both of those.

Yeah, it's a new thing in the States. Every person I get behind in line is confused about how to use a credit card now. Do I swipe it? Do I stick it in this thing here according to the directions? What is happening? Is this a card with a chip? I didn't fucking bother to figure that out... I'm not going to listen to the helpful direction of the cashier, because obviously the person that works the cash register all day doesn't have a fucking clue. I obviously know better and will stick the card in the chipped card slot and then pull it out and try swiping repeatedly to confuse the system.
It's either that or they are purchasing scratchers one at a time with pennies or something.

My favorite is old people writing a check or old people who can't figure out what change to use and spend 120 seconds rummaging in their purse for a nickel so they only get a dime back in change or some shit. It's funny, I learned cursive and how to balance a checkbook in school and these were repeatedly driven home as really fucking important but I can honestly say I've never used either in a decade of adulthood. Now I can swipe my debit card and my account is updated in seconds and I haven't used cursive since 6th grade. Also my permanent record hasn't come back to bite me in the ass, either.

We just have credit card+PIN. After securing Yurops freedom (twice and then ongoing since 1945) we can't be bothered to remember numbers all the time so we just do the chip bit. Debit cards do and have always had PINs though.

Speaking as a fairly casual internet user who uses the Firefox, it honestly seems fine to me. AdBlock works like a charm, and everything loads okay.
Maybe you disagree with the political leanings of Mozilla, but I don't think that's detracted from their product in any noticeable way. And I do think it's hyperbole to say that they're firing people purely to please the SJW boogeyman.

I may use mine only for one more month - I compared my Fidelity Visa with 2% on all purchases back to the AMEX that offers 3% on groceries and 1% on just about everything else and IF I had used my VISA my return wood have been double over AMEX - So its just a one month sample and I did get my $150 -
AGAIN Anyone here in USA if they have the necessary income and have decent credit can get that free account and $150 for just applying - Its not cash back in cash but it is cash back against your credit card account which is really the same if you continue to use that card

In actual fact it's because banks had liability over stolen money which is why they introduce it in Europe. They did it by making it so you could still swipe, but the liability was now with the retailer and not the bank unless it was used with a chip.
It's not impossible to steal with a chip but it's not trivial like it is with magnetic swipe.
America you are years behind. Why not just start making them with contactless as well? People are already used to not even verifying they're allowed to use the face so it wouldn't be a culture shock like it was in Yurop.
