I would absolutely love a live action series that is set in the Mos Eisley Cantina.

Now why is this?

One moment, just let me put on my long-range telepathy headgear. Then I can tell you exactly why you want such a series.

Back in 2004 I used to play Star Wars Galaxies. It was the largest MMO in the world at the time with subs of over 500k, it was also the largest open world MMO on the market. The most fun I had in computer games was the years I played that. Mos Eisley Cantina was always hopping as well as cantinas on Naboo and a few other planets because you could chose from a large selections of professions and sub professions, so you could play as an entertainer then specialize as a dancer or musicain. I miss that game so much.

People would just log in and chill in the cantina. Sometimes talk shit or just make friends then go off on some adventure

Okay, I have ascertained that you want it because you enjoyed the atmosphere of the cantina, and feel it could be entertaining if explored in more depth.

While I was in there, I also couldn't help but notice a frighteningly strong longing for chocolate syrup. I advise you to get ahold of some.

Actually I hardly post here. I think someone has been messing around, I got the blaim for it and said troll has just ran with it.

I think this is what re-sparked this idea for me, because I recently found myself in a RP conversation at the cantina.

Possibly. Green does a very good impression of your trolling, surprisingly.

Please as a less idiotic question. Why do you expect the fora to tell you why you, yourself, want something? Thanks.

Fuck that game was fantastic. I've played it for several years and it truly was the best MMO ever. I actually completely agree with your "The most fun I had in computer games was the years I played that". Never had as much fun since. SWGEmu sadly doesn't come close to truly bringing the feel back, but it's still pretty good. It lacks the community and I preferred nge over pre-cu.

For a hive of villainy, it sure had a lot of laid back folks, like a fucked up Cheers

What server did you play on? I played on Bria. Personally I liked the pre-cu more, it was more open and player ran as everything had to be crafted and sold. High powered weapons needed certern parts from like the acklay bone for stun battons but then everything decayed as it got used. The CU was a pile of shit but the base game was still there so it was somewhat enjoyable - Sadly a lot of the player cities vanished as so many quit. I didn't enjoy the NGE at all and felt bitter the game had changed again 6 months after the CU so quit a week after it came live. At least John Smedley from Sony Online later admitted he made a mistake chasing after the Wow audience

I started on Lowca, but when it was eventually announced that it would be shut down I moved to Starsider, because that was where all the roleplayers were at. And at that point I was one of those faggots. Though I was pretty darn good at PVP with my Medic and Spy characters as well.

I originally only started playing right after the GCW update in the NGE (first time I played I got a GCW token and had NO IDEA what it was, so I just used it on my first rank which I learned later was such a waste). I kept playing until the game got shut down. So I'm biased in that way, my nostalgia does not include anything but the NGE. I only know pre-cu from what other people told me, and the swgemu. So I guess we both just dislike change?

I've had fun playing swgemu (which is supposed to be a near-accurate recreation of pre-cu, lacking only Jedi and space I think), but it doesn't have any quests. It's really just socializing, PvE (grinding) and PvP. And of course the amazing crafting system, but since I'm not a crafter it does not affect my gameplay that much. Am I missing something?

Svet !jzYkdX7lIw replied with this 10 years ago, 9 minutes later, 5 hours after the original post[^] [v] #639,122

@previous (E)
Yeah, a big part of pre-cu was the community. There was enough people to keep it really fun, you could do anything. PvP in SWG rocked more than any other game. Going to corellia starport to get buffed then going overt solo or with a group. You never knew what you might find, ether I rode into a known rebel player city and took a few overt rebs by surprise or camped the rebel star port on Rori, sometimes I would go to all the trouble of getting buffed/mind buffed and to get my shit stomped 2 minutes laters. It was a blast.

I could have given NGE more time but having everything reset again like all my armor and weapons just made me angry. I had so much rare stuff like crystals perals and a jetpack, even had a Nightsister armband which at the time had been removed from the game and was rare as rocking horse shit

Anonymous E replied with this 10 years ago, 11 minutes later, 5 hours after the original post[^] [v] #639,133

@previous (Svet !jzYkdX7lIw)
Ah yeah. I don't care too much about PvP nowadays as I've become a filthy casual and am not very interested in the PvP mechanics of the pre-cu due to having never played this. I'd love to go exploring and finding/doing random quests again. The social aspect is missing on swgemu. The cantinas and such are filled, but they're mostly populated by afk buffbots and people only interested in getting a buff then getting the fuck out. Haven't had any meaningful interaction at all, sadly.

> even had a Nightsister armband which at the time had been removed from the game and was rare as rocking horse shit
Dude I had one of those as well, about a year or two before the game died. It was still just as unobtainable at the time, and even more rare and expensive. I made so much credits from scripting a certain part of the game (reverse engineering, which got added at some point).

Did you have a favorite planet? I always thought the planets in SWG were so well crafted, like they looked wonderful, sounded good and music qued at the right time. I like Rori a lot but another planet with pinkish grass, forgot the name, started with T. ~Maybe Talos

Anonymous E replied with this 10 years ago, 2 hours later, 7 hours after the original post[^] [v] #639,168

@previous (Svet !jzYkdX7lIw)
Talus and Tatooine are the only planets starting with a T, and I don't think you'd find any grass on Tatooine! Anyway, I think my favorite were Yavin IV and Dantooine. I didn't know about either the Jedi Temple Ruins and the Dark Jedi Enclave. I ran into them both while exploring and had my mind blown. Then I was very confused because there wasn't anything there, but later I learned they were just a relic from how Jedi used to work in the game (which was far cooler I'm sure we can all agree on). Mustafar and Kashyyk were also fun, but not very big or exhaustive. Though I spent a LOT on time on Mustafar because it had a lot of end-game content (in the NGE? Not sure about before.)

I did a lot lot lot of roleplaying and socializing on Tatooine, though. It was the only real social hub on Starsider. Corellia and Theed also had some people, but not many. Other than that there were just the roleplay hubs, one on Dantooine, one on Lok, one on Rori and several on Tatooine.

Yeah, Jedi would go to the temples to duel or handing in for rankings. The rankings got scrapped though due to fight clubs being set up - Rebel and Imperial guilds would team up and kill each others Jedi for cheap rankings. I loved Yavin too, you can hunt Black Sun on Yavin for the bounty hunter armor (pic related)

Anonymous E replied with this 10 years ago, 1 minute later, 8 hours after the original post[^] [v] #639,185

@previous (Svet !jzYkdX7lIw)
Yes! The bounty armor was a real bitch to get. There was this whole themepark that had to be done for each piece, and it required some incredibly rare components that only dropped there and it was camped to death most hours of the day. I think I got a whole set of bounty armor at some point, but only ever used the helmet. I painted it green.

The mandalorian armor set. Ultra rare, my server only ever crafted one suit. The Death Watch bunker on Endor was a real bitch, those droids hit too hard. You might already know but you can hunt the Gorax from the ewok movie on Endor. Can't remember what he drops but something you can use in a weapon.

Fuck, that's right. Yes I was thinking of mandalorian armor. I think it became a bit more common after the nge, since there were definitely a bunch of suits running around. Still rare, but I'd wager there were at least a hundred full suits. Maybe more. I also got that bounty armor though.

The Death Watch bunker was really hard. I don't think you were supposed to go there alone. Whenever I went there I had at least two other people with me, with me being the medic. And that's not counting the defenseless trader.

One of the reasons I was mad at the changes, CU then NGE is how everything was reset stat wise. Pre-cu I has build up a fancy collection of stuff like powerful weapons and good armor including some uber RIS armor (pic from google) which I confess I brought credits online for, but the CU ruined all those stats so it was only good for grinding - it had really good stun damage resist which was the goto damage for pvp.

It's a shame MMO are now marketed for a mass audience you'll never get an mmo like SWG again.

That's too bad. I do remember stuff having stats and them being pointless. Pretty lame they reset it all like that.
