I think he is.

the army would laugh at him because the military already thinks the president is a joke. they'd never, ever say that, they'd just call him the commander-in-chief and be super respectful, but a civilian president is not a military man and a guy like trump is so far away from that the military would probably just arrest him if he tried to order his political opposition killed or something.

that's part of the reason it's a good idea to have a civilian president, the army will not follow him down a stupid path.

But can we trust the military to lead us?

it would defer to the vice president, and if he's crazy too they'll arrest his dumb ass and give it to the speaker of the house or whoever is next.

What happens if the speaker of the house and the next two in line of successor are also batshit insane?

i would imagine there's a process that congress goes through to impeach people at some point. i would imagine the military's role to be stopping the president from nuking democrats and congress would deal with the actual impeachment and succession and all of that. there's, like, rules in place for all of this. i'd put money on the pentagon having a "president ordering illegal or incredibly reckless actions" contingency plan. you'd need the support of much of the military and i firmly do not believe that our military believes the president has a mandate to use force against americans outside of martial law when asked for by state governors. federalism is way, way, way too distributed for a military coup to take place. the boots on the ground, the regular soldiers, wouldn't support it. you'd end up with a small elite group of people holed up in the white house with maybe a few higer-ups taking part, but the military overall wouldn't stand for a tyrant seizing power and using military might to eliminate opposition.

it's all kind of a non-conversation since far too many people would need to be complicit and the... zealotry just isn't there.

even if donald trump is evil that's not something that could happen

"Evil" is a term rooted in religious philosophy, so if one is not disposed to religion, a suitable term could be sociopathic. Now that term isn't as solid as we would like, as it is from the ever-changing and multi-schooled of thought discipline of psychology. Some writers will say it is another word for psychopathic, others will try to define these terms as distinct. At the core, we want to know: is this man without empathy? Are we but flesh toys to him, the only real being in the universe?

It reads less like something he's inherently capable of observing and more just like the kind of stereotypical thought process routine jumped up on stimulants you often see in academic rote-automatons. At best he's collated that from a few different disparate sources.
