it's great. i have hardwoods, rugs, and carpet. it goes everywhere. it even docks underneath a table so when it's done cleaning it hides itself away. i did a real thorough cleaning of the floors today and set the roomba to just roam around. i grabbed a broom and swept everything into little piles for it to chew on like a robotic dust pan. it worked like a champ. i've been letting it clean the floors every day for about 45 minutes and all i have to do is dump the hopper and tap out the filter occasionally. it's been picking up less and less (first time i ran it i cleaned the hopper more than once) so it's managing to get the little bit that accumulates every day just fine. it was barely even full today even with me getting behind things and going nuts with the broom. it's recommended to run it very frequently, so i've got it on a schedule to clean while i'm at work. it's fantastic. probably won't entirely replace my vortex cyclone whatever for carpets but for hardwoods it's brilliant. but, i'm going to let it do the carpets for a few weeks and then run the dyson around and see if it sounds like i'm vacuuming a beach.her name is rosie, by the way. she's chinese, but i call her rosie anyway.

i have 2 pets and live in texas. so my floors are a chore to keep clean from dust and hair. the cat is log haired and makes dust bunnies. i sweep once a week or so and vacuum about as frequently, and every time i have to empty several dust pans and the vacuum picks up a lot. i've had the roomba running for about a week every day. the first day i swept manually and vacuumed because i didn't want to ruin it with huge dust bunnies because the floors hadn't been done in several weeks (busy holiday/laziness). but i let it do the small stuff, i just managed shit that would tangle the brushes.
after a week of using it i had a really nice and easy cleaning day. almost went straight to mopping, the floors were debris free. so it's already proving itself handy. plus if i have guests coming spur of the moment i can let it clean while i do counters or dishes or whatever i've been slacking on.
anyway, it handles bags and stuff just fine. it'll even untangle itself from cords. it's best to "prep" the house for the roomba and just pick shit up off the floors real quick, but if you have stuff on the floor it just bumps it and paths around it. it'll circle table legs and stuff or go around laundry baskets. the only issue i've had has been the dog dish, it'll push that around and spill water like a klutz. so i have to pick that up. it'll pretty much go around everything and get everywhere it can fit and just kind of criss-crosses everywhere. so far it hasn't gotten stuck anywhere, which was my concern. the computer room is the most cluttered with stuff on the floor and wires draped around, it kinda nopes outta there, but there's like a dog bed on the floor and several big chairs and a workstation right in the middle of the room but it gets where it can and doesn't complain. oh yeah, and it gets under the bed perfectly, i can never get all the way up under there and have to dismantle the bed once a year. i think not anymore :D
