Alien Hitler didn't actually build the pyramids. His friend bigfoot found them at a pawn shop and transported them through time to ancient Egypt with the help of some truckers following encoded instructions in Nostradamus' writings that were secretly based on the Mayan calendar. The gravitational pull from Planet X passing by helped him move them into place at Giza before the Annunaki stashed a massive hoard of gold on Oak Island.

they do present a lot of interesting circumstantial evidence. but i don't think they have a smoking gun. and even if they did there is a wealth of evidence that the mossad killed a bunch on nazis in south america and captured many high value officers. if hitler had actually escaped and made it to argentina i think the mossad would have known about it and would have stopped at nothing to capture him.

i will admit that the evidence that hitler died in his bunker is also highly suspect and doesn't really even exist, and yes there was an "underground railroad" taking nazi officers to south america. we don't really know he died and there was a way for him to escape. so like they keep saying, maybe it's possible, but it's equally possible his inner circle burned his body on a pyre and the russians dumped his remains in cess pit like they said they did. i can do the same kind of "logical assumptions" they do in the show, since the bodies were burned maybe if the russians mixed up the charred bones they grabbed the wrong skull and it's possible they misunderstood that hitler was the one who used poison because in russian culture poison is a woman's death and men would shoot themselves. and maybe if that happened the russians covered up their mistake by not allowing forensics on the remains for 60 years. as long as we're guessing anything is possible. theirs involves a conspiracy to hide hilter in the jungle and never be found, mine involves conspiracy to cover up soviet incompetence. i wonder which one is more likely.

just seems like the whole thing is based on very little evidence and a whole bunch of assumptions. and the way it's presented they're presenting it like their assumptions are a forgone conclusion. it's all confirmation bias. they have their conclusion, "hilter escaped to argentina to live out his life," and they are hunting down and cherry picking any evidence that points to that conclusion and dismissing or downplaying any evidence that doesn't. and the evidence is all circumstantial anyway. "oh, here's a "false wall" in a tunnel, hitler must've used this to escape."

They do that with every stupid claim. They just play up the "what if" factor while dismissing more logical conclusions. Sometimes it's mostly harmless, like bigfoot or ancient aliens, and sometimes it's really fucking irresponsible like getting gullible people to panic about 2012.

There is always that subset of crazy. There was some cult stuff, some cult members being arrested, worries about mass shootings, talk of people killing their pets and moving to the mountains, and certainly an uptick in sales of "survivalist" stuff. It's probably hard to gauge accurately, but the hype created a lot of tension that could have easily been avoided by not hyping the "OMG OMG We're all gonna die!" TV specials that were airing one after the other at the time.

I guess it could be argued that if the History channel was responsible the crazies would just go somewhere else and besides who wants to learn about boring old history when the Kardashians and Honey Boo Boo are on?

I'm beginning to wonder if the History channel decline started in 1997 when they missed the comet on the Heaven's Gate thing and they resolved never to let good crazy go to waste. Before '98 I remember the History channel as respectable middle-of-the-road documentaries and informative stuff like Modern Marvels.

They did discover the grand unified theory of history though:
Hitler built the pyramids with Mayan alien antigravity (there also are pyramids in the Yucatan AND the civilization abruptly vanished). Then the Jews take credit for the pyramids in Exodus, which was the REAL reason for Hitler's antisemitism. How else is it that Hitler had cordial relations with the Egyptians (who knew the real score) AND the Mexicans (ditto). Also Zimmermann telegram 1917 = George Zimmerman = half Peruvian (Inca pyramids) half German (pyramid builders).

when the end does come, it'll be our own doing, not some predestined event written in the sky.

edit: unless we somehow manage to survive until the sun dies. that would literally be a predestined event written in the sky.

Yeah, the crazies have Coast to Coast or Alex Jones or any number of Internet sources to go to, but the History Channel seemed to make their ideas way more mainstream than they needed to be. I don't think they are directly responsible for anything, but I don't think what they were doing was a particularly responsible way of handling the situation. I get that they want ratings, and doomsday hype gets them ratings. But a little more skepticism and less shit-stirring would have been nice.

well, fuck. i hate to say it but this show is having an influence on me. they present a lot of really compelling circumstantial evidence. and they eventually show that there in fact were real investigations into hitler's whereabouts. it's not just a matter of using confusing language for the sake of controversy. the shit they're showing is not definitive by any stretch, but it's certainly looking like getting hitler out of germany would have been a trivial matter because all kinds of crazy infrastructure existed that he could have actually had in place exactly for the purpose of escape. if he didn't, he was a fucking idiot.

and there is zero evidence hitler even died. sure, they can't prove he survived those last days, but there's no proof he didn't. it's actually pretty nuts. they are making a really, really strong chain of circumstantial evidence.

i still think that if hitler did live that the mossad wouldn't have stopped until he was dead or captured. if the OSS and the FBI and the russians were looking for him (like they'd look for a fugitive) then the israelis knew about it too. and they still don't forgive nazis, they'll arrest a 95 year old nazi if they can. fuck, they caught most of the big name escaped nazis and brought them in themselves. i think if hitler was really suspected to be alive that the mossad would still be hunting for him if they hadn't found him yet. no way would they let him retire in argentina. now, maybe, maybe he did escape and the mossad tracked him down and killed him instead of capturing and threw him in a swamp to perpetuate the cowardly suicide myth. maybe letting people know he lived in argentina for however many years after the war would turn him into a cult-hero like El Chapo. who the fuck knows, they still haven't produced any kind of smoking gun, but they've cast enough doubt on the historical narrative and have shown how easy it would have been for him to run and even find refuge that it's a really compelling narrative they're pursuing.
