Why is Stanley Kubrick a good director?My brother put on Eyes Wired Shut thinking it was a movie he had seen that was bizarre only to remember that he never saw the movie in the first place.
That was good too.
But did the main character in Clockwork Orange die at the end or did he merely escape to a "happy place"?

@OPIn the movie, Alex is deprogrammed after his suicide attempt and offered a job by the government in return for his co-operation in countering bad publicity over the "Ludovico Technique". Although he entertains violent sexual fantasies, it's left unclear as to whether he will return to his more sociopathic activities.
In the book, he actually forms a new gang, intending to indulge his former lifestyle. A short time later, however, he realizes that his old bloodlusts are gradually dissipating as he matures, and begins to contemplate settling down to a more normal life. At the conclusion of the novel, he reflects on the irony that his children will probably be far worse than he ever was.
