Topic: Paul Masson Grande Amber VSOP brandy is EXTREMELY good fora!

Metæ started this discussion 10 years ago #48,786

Usually I buy Christian Brothers brandy at $9 for a fifth but this being the holiday season I sprang for Paul Masson VSOP at $12.75 a fifth. The bottle notes it's aged four years in oak (compared to I think three years for plain brandy) and boy what a difference that makes.

I poured about four ounces into a snifter and inhaled the aroma, pleasant notes of vanilla and oak. The color is a rich dark reddish amber, about the same as maple syrup (real Vermont maple syrup, not the HFCS crap). Take a sip and the tenor of the vanilla and oak is backed by a solid bass riff of caramel, sweet and playful but never cloying and just a bit buttery on the tongue. There's a wisp of bourbon in here and I think they've used old bourbon barrels (as most Scotch whisky makers do). Just as the Chinese throw away the first pot of tea made from leaves to rinse them, I feel the oak barrel gives up it's most delicate and subtle flavors after the second batch of spirits has passed through it.

Overall I rate this a solid 10/10 and I will probably buy more of these and fewer Christian Brothers and regular (non-VSOP) Paul Masson.

Interminably pretentious bastards like you are the kind of individuals who'd review the taste of semen had it first passed through the rectum of another man's anus first.
Pathetic sub-human non-being.

Once, with the intention of a permanent departure from the existential plane.

Here's a thought for you however: would you be able to review it as passionately as you have with the Scotch you've shown as much passion for as I'm sure you'd secretly vest into the rectally passed seminal discharge of another male accomplice?

@OP

do you remember the great Orson Welles commercials for Masson?
