There is no dilemma here. A Japanese in your situation would honor their parents and celebrate with them.

Christmas is a popular holiday in Japan, but not in quite the same way as here. I've heard it's also a bit of a romantic holiday for them.
I also don't want to move to Japan. I would like to visit, but, to me, it's not at all worth taking all the effort to relocate and adjust to their culture.
Also, I'm baffled as to why Svet thinks that "celebrating" Christmas is something you have actively do, rather than just relaxing at home amd exchanging gifts with friends + family. Did he not hear that it became a largely secular holiday long ago?
Lastly, I do not even watch Kill La Kill. You would have been more correct if you'd gone with Dragon Ball or Claymore, but you don't even care enough to check what anime I watch. :(
