Those in the pursuit of scientific insight unhampered by religious interference are fine. They're not really atheists in my book, not in the callous ideological sense of your FuckAlms' and what have you. They're just Aspies, and want to be able to absorb the fruits of their enlightenment in peace.
However, then you have the Zeitgeistian. He believes in deterministically pre-ordained ultimate knowledge-singularism, at which point we will have accumulated everything 'needed to know'; the proof that the illusion of intellectually finite scarcity was one to limit the proles in a new self-serving prism of Medieval ignorance. He one day wants to dismantle the 'peer-review', North Korean-esque propaganda slogan dreaming councils that now pass for research committees, so that, in the obscuration from view that enlightenment, akin to the private library of the Brave New World's Commander, having purloined from his plundering of what was once a much more noble endeavour of the scientific process, he'll have the final claim to each and every one of the spoils from his ruinous agenda.
I hope you liberals enjoy having your scientific, technocratic illusions, merely a smoke-screen to adumbrate a restriction of liberty (researcher's exclusivity over mind-expanding apparatus compounds), stratification of society (the 'Volume of the Sacred Law' DSM-V where schizos, transsexuals and other neurofems are up-stratified over autists and other PDDs, the new Sumerian slaves), and rebirth of the Victorian moral piety of original sin (especially as foisted by radical feminists on anything remotely male, even systematic females, even trannies who don't abide by stereotypical target-sex presentations) exposed over time by the politically adroit among us.
