Or we could send them to Africa and they could lose the weight real quick.

They should go to special fat jails.

Said jails could save money, since they would need fewer bars for the cells.

First of all, its just as easy to eat youself fat with non fast food. Also, how would you even start to ban certain food items? Too much salt, sugar, fat, etc? That would hit tons of "gourmet" restaurants as well.

oh ok
> Also, how would you even start to ban certain food items? Too much salt, sugar, fat, etc?
place regulations on fast food like you would on tobacco products
> That would hit tons of "gourmet" restaurants as well.
gourmet restaurants ≠ fast food. low-income households can't afford to eat at gourmet restaurants as much as fast food restaurants

Oh okay isnt a valid comeback
What type of regulations?
So you would make it harder/more expensive for poor people to eat?

oh ok.
regulations on advertising would be a start.
i didn't say anything like that. i'm saying gourmet restaurants wouldn't be affected because they aren't fast food. i brought up low-income households because they're more likely to suffer from obesity (http://frac.org/initiatives/hunger-and-obesity/why-are-low-income-and-food-insecure-people-vulnerable-to-obesity/)

the poor don't have as much access to high quality foods. if you want to do something to help poor people not be fat then you'd look to improve the number of grocery stores in poor areas. when there's a 7-11 on every corner and a McDonalds for every block, and no grocery store for 8 miles, that's where the problem starts. it's a lack of options, not too many options, that makes the ghetto fat. making it more expensive to eat poorly will only further harm the poor, it certainly won't magically transport them to the market to buy fresh fruits and vegetables.

You'd have to define fast food and and you really couldn't regulate some food for levels or sodium, fat, and sugar without regulating other forms of premade food.
Also you would further restrict the food options for poor people in fresh food deserts.
