Yesterday I was using the restroom when a creepy looking spider crawled under the door. I watched it for a minute trying to decide what to do. I usually capture them and throw them outside, but I felt like doing something different tonight. After finishing my business and flushing the toilet, I put a piece of toilet paper under it and tried to catch it. It was extremely fast, so I then placed a pretty thick piece of paper over it. I decided to flush it. I nervously picked it up and tossed it inside. Once I put it in the toilet bowl, it started freaking out a bit. It was obviously dying. I watched it begin to drown for approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds, and during this minute and a half, I felt a strange sense of interest on how spiders react to drowning, but I also felt extremely guilty. On an impulse, I ran out of the bathroom and grabbed a broken piece of plastic that was in my room. I fished Freddie the spider out, placed it on top of my sink and tried to dry it off. I felt really bad. After it seemed like all the water was off of it, I placed it on a piece of towel-paper-type-thing and I brought it downstairs with me as I went to go have a cigarette. It wasn't moving, but I hadn't given up hope just yet. I decided to leave it on that piece of paper in the corner of the room in the downstairs area/basement of my house. If it was still there in the morning, then I'd know that it hadn't survived. If it was gone, then it's brave soul had obviously conquered the cruel adversities I put it through. This morning I went about my daily routines and while doing so, I then remembered Freddie. I ran down the stairs in some sort of retarded excitement. Upon walking to the corner of my basement, I looked towards the piece of paper and he was gone. He had survived. He had made it. He had defeated the challenge of the toilet bowl: the one challenge that spiders almost never escaped alive. Freddie: The God amongst spiders.
