Get a trade skill like a chippy or a plumber. Tradesmen can make really good money and you'll always have the opportunity to work for a large firm, small as a freelance or start your own small company. Avoid working with gas or electricity unless you're really into it as the constant updating of regs and qualifications and signing up with regulatory bodies can be heavy going (For the UK) all due to health and safty.

Well, that's not realistic is it but I don't think you'll seriously want to be a NEET. However, you could do what I do and work in a higher end trade (Lighting designer) where I make £300 to £500 per day then I can afford to go weeks without working sometimes months after a tour then I can do cocaine & play vidya. Ofc I can do odd days inbetween for extra monies.
