i'm surprised. it's way, way better than i thought it was going to be. season 1 got off to kind of a slow start, but once it started getting good it just keeps getting better. season 2 was fantastic. i can't believe i watched the marvel movies without watching the shows leading up to them. i actually didn't realize there'd be as much crossover as there has been. it's almost like the Captain America movie was Episode 17 or whatever. and now season 2 is leading into Age of Ultron (with references if nothing else).
i'm guessing all the marvel shows do that? i watched Dare Devil and it was really entertaining (best fight sequences in a tv show ever man) but it really didn't make many references to the movies at all (except for the attack on new york.) it seems a lot less tied to the marvel cinematic universe than AoS, but it's good as a stand alone show. but i guess that's how the comic books work, same universe but totally unrelated stories.
What are the other marvel shows, and are they as good? i keep hearing the Arrow is the best of them all, but it seems like it would be lame. an archery guy. meh. but everyone goes on and on about how much better the story is. i guess i'll have to check it out since i thought AoS and DD would be pretty meh as well. i was wrong. and i've heard the flash is almost as good as the Arrow but better than AoS. (but, i might've been reading an older article from the first season of AoS when everyone was disappointed in it. now that AoS is as good as it is i can't imagine a stand alone character show being as good as an ensemble.)
and then agent carter or whatever, is that supposed to be any good? i mean one of these shows is bound to bomb. which one is the bad one?

I don't watch any of those shows, sorry. It's interesting you mention Dare Devil having cool fight scenes, I just started watching Into the Badlands for some good TV fight scenes. It's pretty cool kung fu swordplay with a fair bit of blood.

oh yeah, and i read that marvel might be purposefully gimping the X-Men comics because sony or whoever bought the rights to the movies before Marvel became their own production studio (or whatever happened there.) SHIELD is really awesome. The first season is kind of weak, after that it just gets so fucking good. I watched all of the marvel shows, this is the only one that really ties in to the movies, and even then it's just a reference back and forth.
I also really like flash and the arrow. First season of the arrow is also weak, and I thought it would fucking suck. And the first time I watched it I gave up halfway through the first season because it was a retarded archer guy. But then I tried again when it was bored, and it also became much better than I expected. You should give that a shot as well when you're slightly bored, and remember to try and get through the first season here as well.
Oh also, the flash and arrow have like a crossover or two every season, which is also pretty cool.

i'm not surprised. the x-men movies take tons of liberties with continuity and reboot, reboot, reboot. i think marvel is sick of them fucking with the whole universe among other things. i don't really like x-men all that much because you can't trust it. they'll just go back in time and retcon till everyone is alive again. there's no way x-men can co-exist with the rest of the marvel cinematic universe unless they quit it with the time traveling reboots. i think it's pretty smart to diminish a property they don't have complete control over, especially when they are trying to build a movie equivalent to their cross-over comic universe. usurping mutants with inhumans is pretty ham handed, if you ask me, which is what makes it so funny. they totally would be tying x-men to agents of shield and the avengers if they had complete control. inhumans is almost like just a simple rebranding of mutants, it's just marvel will completely control the new brand and can tie them in however they like. i bet they even end up doing "poor mans x-men" analogs (vibranium skeleton badger man with retractable claws).

I'm assuming your issue is with the presentation of this element, rather than the very idea of a strong female character.
I think it's worth pointing out, that sort of thing was legitimately a big social issue in America, in the time that the show is set. So a female protagonist in that sort of job having to deal with sexism is just an accurate reflection of the time.
I'd go so far as to say it would be unrealistic to downplay or not mention the sexism of those days.
And, on a personal note, I think the defiance of outdated social norms just makes Peggy cooler as a character.

Yes, exactly that. I think the character is cool and nothing against strong women (who don't need no man). But my point is that you are reminded every few minutes that the protagonist is awesome and did you know she is a woman?!?!
It's not that bad in Carter as opposed to, say, Supergirl, but they both lay it on a bit thick. In Carter there isn't a whole lot going on besides defying gender norms for example. In my memory that was the main plot point of most episodes, but I may be forgetting some things.

Not my memory of it at all. From my recollection, it was primarily a show about the espionage and action. The conspiracty that was going on was usually the driving force behind what was happening, and was what characters acted and died upon.
But I suppose how much talk of sexism ect. one can tolerate varies quite a bit depending on the viewer's own preferences and perceptions. And I can admit that my own perception was likely shaped by my own preferences in this regard. Though as I said, those attitudes are definitely realistic for the time, and likely would have appeared at more or less the level that Peggy expereinced.
