Well he can come to live with you in a settlement if you do a non-Institute ending. I've yet to see him sleep and he doesn't seem to require a bed on the settlement overview screen.
Though, having said that, you would think he would question this lack of sleeping, if it were the case. Who knows?

That would still be jumping to an assumption, and wouldn't necesarily reflect reality.
You are making some big assumptions with no evidence, here. You assume that Kellogg is a pedophile. There is nothing to suggest this, and he even freely settled down with an adult woman that he got pregnant.
You also assume that the Institute would not find out about Kellogg doing that, even though they take Shaun back from Kellogg's care. Yet when we catch up with Kellogg, he is still good with the Institute. He obviously did nothing to upset them.
Something that requires far fewer assumptions: he had those objects in his shack for mundane use.
