Over the past decade, I've owned many devices with Li-ion batteries from iPods to cameras, laptops, tablets, phones but the battery never seems to last two years. What the hell is up with that?

So Metæ is there a hint in there that I should look in2 investing in Li-ion battery companies?
In this list you're about to view I was aware of the heating inside laptops after a full charge being not so much so good for the batts but was not aware of the recommended deep discharge only after 30 uses - People who post about letting the battery go low are totally guilty of killing the life of the battery. Li-ions that is.
I see one thing on that list that bugs the hell out of me - Most people are aware that a fully discharged Li batt may never come back to life - Internal protection keeps it from being charged - The list suggests a tool which can be dangerous - Only classy batt analyzers have a chance of doing it safely.

I never usually let mine go below 30% and almost never 0%. Is that part of the problem?
I just wonder cause now you can buy a Tesla and Nissan Leaf and Prius and Chevy Volt all with Li-ion batteries. If the battery in my $500 laptop goes bad it's not the end of the world, but if a $10,000 electric car battery goes dead, it might be a big deal.

Quick phone call to a dept at "Q" and your two years is probably normal but unless its a phone left in a car during summer you should get more like 3 years. Heat is a killer for Li-ions.
Good question about cars because someone like Cathy who lives out in the desert - I cannot imagine much life for an electric car. Its also hard for me to phantom car battery's having much life after a couple of years. People I no that have them have them on a two year lease which makes mucho cents to me
