I don't really mind it being over here.
Sincerely, an unconcerned Brit

If you really are concerned about solving problems? There is something you could give back to Argentina.

Very odd you have Black Friday because it's dependant on Thanksgiving. The idea being that the day after Thanksgiving inaugurates the Christmas shopping season. Black Friday without Thanksgiving would be like celebrating Boxing Day without Christmas.

Is not Thanksgiving really of British origins? Virgin(ia) colony was made up of Brits.

I think you brits that came to Americas needed a reason to kill some turkeys and drink mead and make merry. Merry was probably an Indian chiefs daughter.

It's the fourth Thursday in November. You and your family get together for a giant Turkey dinner. There's overeating and lots of drinking and an (American) football game on TV and then the next day (black Friday) you go shopping. The story is the Pilgrims landed in America and almost froze to death but then the Indians taught them how to make pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce and roast turkey.
