There is a sociological theory called Routine Activity Theory. It came up in a law suit against the Chicago Police Department regarding the pummeling of Christine Eilman.
An expert witness, a sociologist from Harvard, said very plainly that a lone white female in an urban, black, underclass area can reasonably expect to be raped and thrown off a high rise housing project.
